Hi all!

Name's Andrea, although I am most of the time called simply Nea.
I figured that I would put my drawings here, since they are sketches, but unfinished ones. I have yet to actually finish them...but I will...someday. ^^;

They're far from perfect, and I am hoping to gain some kind of constructive critisism.

A drawing of a wooden male doll. An attempt to practice anatomy, although I'm not sure as to how bad or well I managed to do so. ^^;

A small inside joke I drew as an excuse for me to practice more moving poses, as I desperately need more practice on that :D It's supposed to be me as to how I used to react when I was a new wannabe artist. I got really offencive and protective á la Gollum (copyright to JRR Tolkien XP ), but now when I'm 23, I am more likely to jump and beg for constructive critisism XD

A drawing I did of my female avatar at Gaia Online's community. Yes, I am a member there, under nickname Nearicatiora. XP [Tiora Rica is the name of my oh so *cough* lovely muse and Nea is what I am usually called; hence my nickname there XP ]

That's all for now...these are done these last two months, so they are fairly fresh :p
I will post more as I draw and remember to scan. Now however, it's time for a lunch/dinner and then off to work ;)

I usually am mixing things. I do often the line art by hand and then sometimes I waterpaint (Although I am absolutely horrible at it ^^; ), or I use Photoshop 7.0/Open Canvas 3.03 or other traditional mediums. I've been playing with the idea of trying my hands on real life airbrushing, it seems so much fine and utterly frustrating XP I seem to never be able to stick to just one medium, mostly thanks to short attentionspan ^^;

not bad! Those are pretty good. It you can get some colour into them then i think they'll look even better.

I find photoshop is a pretty great tool to use when you wanna colour in some pictures. I'm currently working on one of my pics in photoshop, its tough, but thats a different thread. I suggest Photoshop and i'll look forward to seeing some of your pics when they are done :) Keep it up!

Gonna have to start practicing drawing your figures from reference, girlie; there are lots of proportion problems, perspective issues and anotomical errors.

Catwoman's arms are incredibly stubby, the last girls upper legs are way too short and many of the other girls' limbs are a bit formless and lack any defining shapes.

Your faces are pretty solid though, keep using those contour lines to find the placement of features on the face (but you know that already :) )

Keep practicing and keep posting, there's a good start here :D

Whatever happen to Madster? He always whiped everyone up into shape in a heartbeat.

Anyway, I can't really give you an anatomy lesson in my post to go over everything, so I usually just end up suggesting books on artistic anatomy and the sketch thread, wich you should submit to every chance you get. Also, you may want to step back from the anime style until you can really develop your skills, and then come back, and maybe create your own style.

Indeed...references seems useful...just got to get rid of that block I seem to get whenever I try to draw from references :^^;: I have a bunch of refs on my harddrive, but always seem to well I have no idea. :^^;:

Oh! I didn't even notice that! Need to fix that reg. the catwoman, tomorrow (it's 01:01 AM in the morning XP - and I got home from work 1 hour ago :p ) She was meant to be simply a puppet, but indeed...even they are softer than that XD

I do find the cheekbones an frustrating thing to draw, however, I do have a hole page with just eyes, cheek and shadow sketched for practice XP Planning on do so with the rest :D

Thank you for all your comments though! I find them really helpfull! :)

The sketch thread? You sure my drawings qualify to be added there? *feels hesitant*

Indeed...although I am not drawing nearly as much manga(anime is what it is called when the drawings are made as a movie ;) ) as I used to do. My drawings I used to draw when I started in 2003 can be found at my semi-dead account at DA ( http://nightnea.deviantart.com ) [be warned though...those drawings of mine....are really comic-styled...these are at least 20% realism in...or at least a pathetic attempt at realism XD :^^;: ]

I plan on buying at least 1 anatomy book this weekend during the sale XP they usually have a few good things to a cheaper price than during the rest of the year :D

Thank you for commenting! :)

Didn't think my drawings were that comic/manga
