My first ever oil painting. What`s good and what`s bad?

I really like it, but it seems with more subjects, or a larger subject in the foreground to look at - it would devide the space a little better? But that's a very nice technique that you're using, and considering it's oil ... well done :D I'm sure you will be an expert in no time!

I like the dabbing strokes your using. It gives it an impressionistic quality. The palette is goon but I feel there needs to be a bit more contrast between that red/umber that disappears behind the face. I want you to drag my eyes behind it and make me believe that theres space behind that figure. You have resisted overusing the highlights which should be credited too. Im feeling the bottom left corner is a bit empty though.
Edit: Just found out this is a study of loneliness. In that case, I think the colours are too lively to get that feeling across. It looks like autum there.
