Here is what i have found...

1. random search on google.com
Some people have asked where they can obtain the Pilot Hi-Tec-C pen. The answer, one of them was able to confirm for me, is that you can order them over the phone from the Kinokuniya store in San Francisco: (415) 567-7625. I don't know how much they charge for shipping and so on, but you could ask them.

2. After emailing the show above, they gave me this.
Thank you for your inquire.
We have copic maker pen in stock.
Otherwise please contact "Kinokuniya Stationery".
phone number : (415)567-8901

I havent had the time or the money to call so if you can and they have them could you post and tell us how much and what not.

Yea I got addicted to those pens when Feng showed them to us in one of his classes..

They are Japanese pens.. Thats probably why you're not having much luck..

Well depending on where you're living, they would most likely
be found in a Japanese concentrated area..

I've found them in the " Japan Towns" of San Francisco and Los Angeles, and when I frequented Hawaii...

BEST OF LUCK

ok, i called [1-(415)567-8901] and here the info..

The woman on the phone told me that they have .3 and .4 pens in stock, and each one is $3.30. they do have .5's but she told me that they werent in stock. They do charge for shipping, but she didnt give me a price for an order of a few pens, but she told me that to ship 20 pens it would be about 5-7 dollars. [and that going from CA to PA so it might be cheaper for others]

yay!! im so happy im calling later this week and im gonna order a few and test em out. thanks for the info guys, i really appreciate it.

oh and enjoy!

I live in Japan right now and the next time I went to the artstore after I read this post I looked at the Hi-Tech Pilot C pens, and found that they are just about the cheapest pens u can get here. It's like their office pens that they sell loads of (they had like 10 different colours for each size too). They cost 200 yen each (under 2 dollars) and thats probably not at the cheapest store u can find here neither. They have the "artists pens" for 1000+ each (a little under 10 dollars), so I was suprised to know that the pros prefer the cheapest kind. Add to that Japan is not a cheap country. So 200yen is not alot of money for a pen here, it would probably be cheaper abroad if some company imported them (or maybe not according to your resarch, but Kinokuniya is the biggest bookstore in Japan so they wouldnt be cheap, I guess) and sold them.

I bought one, but I think I lost it. I guess I'll have to buy a new one to try it out. They're cheap anyways so its not such a big deal :D

Well, hrm... Im going back home to Sweden in the beginning of January. If you wanna meet me there, no problems! I Could send stuff to ppl who wants it, mind you. But in the end it would probably be more expensive than buying them by mailorder in the US. Sending mail/packages from Japan is expensive and not worth it usually. :(

If I where a rich person I would be more than glad to send you some pens (I know the pain of not being able to get what I want when it comes to art supplies, prisma markers, anyone?), Im not however.

Boku wa okanemochi hito ja nai kara, dasenai yo. (if someone here is actually able to understand Japanese, dont make any comments, I already know I cant speak nor write this language... sniff sniff :( )

FYI... the Kinokuniya Bookstore also has a location in Edgewater, NJ for anyone who's interested in that area, and they do have the Pilot Hi-Tec-C pens, along with a million other types of pens... rollers, brush pens, you name it. Not sure if they mail order or not, but I walked in there today and snagged a .3 & .5 to test them out.

hi... theres this site which does em for $3.25 ..........

im in the uk so i wouldn't have a clue where to start my search. any alternatives you might recommend? I used to use a simple Bic Biro for a lot of drawings.. but the ink smears when i apply markers to it. At the moment I'm just using my slowly dying Sakura Micron liners and a magical 0.7 Staedler fineliner which has been going strong for over 5 years (obviously not used much :P)

3.25 is a total ripoff, I got a bunch of these for around a buck in taiwan this summer. They're wayyyy overcharging people for these pen... btw, dont trust the 20% off in art center's student stores, they make the price higher beforehand anyways. so you're not really saving any money. It's just more convinient for students since most of us dont want to drive to other art stores.

If that's how you feel and if you can get these for cheaper, that's fine and dandy. Most stores are able to charge low prices for pens in general because they happen to sell other things. I don't happen to be a store - I just happen to be an individual who sells these pens online.

Truthfully, I don't make anything selling these pens, as I purchase them from a local supplier. I only happen to be selling them because there appears to be a scarcity of them in North America. I have always stated that I will only sell these pens until they are widely available, IE: in most stationary stores. I also never have a very large supply, due to the fact that my supplier has to import them. So - If you have somewhere else you can buy these, please, PLEASE do.

If Hi-Tec Cs are hard to find in your area, you may want to try Nexus pens. They have only one width, but they come in different colors and the ink is waterproof.

If you're in Michigan near the Detroit area, the College for Creative Studies bookstore sells these pens. They have .25, .3, .4, and .5 sizes, all in black. Currently however they only have the .3s in stock.

I agree that the pens arn't life-changing, but for my style (Hi-Tec pen and marker on Letraset marker pad) the pen scans super nice, and the line quality is great.

Anyway, hope this helps some of you :)

I just bought some pens from a store in New Jersey. They have the cheapest price that I could find in the U.S. Each pen is $3 and the shipping is around $3 to NH. They have lots of stock too. You pay by credit card. I am not sure wha t the store name is but it is in the Mitsuwa Mall. The phone number of the mall is (201)941-9113 and the phone number of the actual store is (201)945-8114. You can also go to the Mistuwa Mall website and find a mall closer to you and try to get some pens. The website is here. (http://www.mitsuwa.com/slh2.html)

hahah- this little shop in my hometown (population est. 3500 people) has g-tec c4 pens (.4 work perfectly for me) . and i live in the asshole of the universe. now i moved to the capital city and can't find them.

just had to post

p.s. nothing beats g-tecs- they run over pencil smoothly and give a nice black line and fill, but if you're looking for a replacement, i recommend staedtler's pigment liners. i used to use them before, and i believe feng also uses them. best substitute. rotring's xonox line blows (ugly yellowish gray line), unipen is straight out.

i agree with lung, rotring is gray and if youre lookin for black staedler is best. must add that unipen is a perfect enough choice for filling sligtly bigger surfaces.staedler for the lines, def. :confident

For those in the Chicago area, I can confirm that the Asahiya Bookstore (847-228-9851) in the Mitsuwa Market has Pilot Hi-Tec C pens in 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 sizes for about $2.80 each. Also, they apparently have the Kaimei brush pen that el coro (Justin) uses for his amazing sketchbook, but I didn't find this info out until I was buying a Kurakate brush pen at Dick Blick and the clerk mentioned it.

Dudes, the people from jetpens.com are SO nice. I emailed them about the prices in SF, and they shared with me some great news. The woman said that they had been trying to find a cheaper source for the pens for a while, but have had some difficulties. Just recently though they've been able to cut prices. She said they're lowering the prices to $3.30 this week to match the SF stores!
