Within the depths of many methane ladent swamps, a primitive beast lurks. It cruises through the foal muck on a constant patrol of territory and its next meal. Any creature clumbsy enough to wander too near the waters bank or swimming past would be lucky to escape the jaws of this intrepid hunter. Though home ranges can be separated by miles, at both dawn and dusk bellows can be heard from all directions; each beast basking in the dominance held over their individual reigns.
~Hello there~
Well it's been a while since i've posted here..work has been keeping me pretty busy. I really had a lot of fun with this guy..I didn't really do any concepts for him..I just letit kind of form itself..I used a mosasaur skull with alittle crocodile and snapping turtle thrown in for reference. all in all he came together pretty quickly once I got the rough form worked out. I sculpted him in medium Chavant on top of a rice bowl from el pollo loco (love them rice bowls -grilled fiesta's good too). ~I just bought an airbrush, and I look forward to painting this guy...Smellybugs tutorial will definately come in handy~

Tight, what did you used for the teeth, or are they actually sculpted?

Thanx Mr Man..heh thats an awesome name~
I sculpted the teeth out of Sculpey III ( and baked them) before I placed them. I makes it much easier to work around them + I can stain them to get some good color.

OK I read abou the teeth, and I wonder, did you plan out every tooth in a sketch or did you just make a handful? (would love to see a sketch if there is one)
Either way it's good to know you can mix baked and unbaked sculpey like that.
And one more question: how'd you do the eyes?

Cool cool thanks guys~
I did just make a handful of teeth of varied sizes and placed'em where they'd work--no sketch just kinda made it up as i went(while following reference pics)-the eys are just cheapo beads from Micheals with sharpie pupils( for now)...I definetely need pics of more angles--good call P-Q

Wow, half the questions people are asking here would be answered if they just took the time to read the first post.
Like the sculpt by the way.

This is really amazing!
Were the spheroids all over it's skin also prehardened like the teeth? They seem so smooth compared to the skin surrounding them...

Wow...thanx guys!-I really appreciate it
I hate to post again without more pictures i promise I'll get to it...
~Pearson--the "spheroids"(your word not mine) are sculpted in chavant(oil based clay) along with everything else(exept-teeth/eyes)...I just treated them with a flame and alcohol differently than I did on the skin...its all about layers...if that makes any sense
~Possessed--no plans for sale just a portfolio piece
