Hey everybody,
Just finished this painting of the Queen character for a personal project I'm working on. More details on the project when I know what direction I wanna take it in. The painting was done in Painter, a program I've really wanted to get in to for a long time and am finally getting down to it, and loving it.

lol, grea rendering and very tight. I love her snobby look, it's very funny.

Something about the proportions really bugs me. The elongated, angular style of the head doesn't seem to carry through to the rest of the body.

Hi Kevin thanks for the first post :)
Just a few things, her cheek bones are quite large, especially her right cheek, (my left)
Where her hands are I would expect to see some reaction i.e. crinkles, shadows etc. It looks like it is a plastic dress!
Cheers

Hey people,
Thanks for the replies. Her cheek bones are quite large, this has been done on purpose, although if it's being pointed out maybe it isn't quite working as well as I intended. You're correct about the head Elwell, there is something a bit odd about it which I see now in this final rendering of the character. All the characters for this project were to be modelled in 3d and so all the drawings started out as simple pencil drawings, I never intended to take them this far as paintings. I actually modelled this character in 3d before I did this painting and the issue with the head appeared there, I had to scale it down a bit as it just looked way too big as well as the face being too elongated. To me, the original pencil drawing looked alright on its own so I decided to paint it up as a way of getting into Painter, but of course the elongated head thing has shown up here as well, I guess it's because the face looks rounder and fuller when painted up as opposed to a flat pencil drawing with minimal shading.
I'll be sure to work on all these aspects in future paintings, thanks for the crits.

Back leg looks a bit dodgy to me - e.g. I tried to figure out a mental outline of the back leg, and where the knee would go.
IMO the back foot needs to come down and the feet need to face more forward, to make it more convincing.
