Hooray for taking the plunge!

I'm also somewhat new to using tablets and digipainting, so here's some bits that I've learned recently that may help you move along quicker:

- Don't just shade with black, and don't just shade with darker colours. Make sure you have some other hues in there, usually cooler colours for shadows and warmer colours for mid-tones

- It looks like you're starting with big brushes and working yuor way down (which is good) but don't be afraid to take a tiny, pencil sized brush and make some defining lines, like very dark little strikes to create a 'crease' or even hatching etc. Experiment with smaller brushes to really add in some detail.

In general, always try to experiment every so often with new brushes/colours etc. Learn by doing! :)
