Hey guys, I've been searching through the forum and I know it has been talked about *somewhere*, but unfortunately I can't find it anymore.

I know it might sounds weird but I'm looking for a (master, I think) painter who painted people with their bodies cut open and have their guts and all showing. :)

Hopefully you guys can help me!

Caravaggio was a pretty gory master(I think) painter. I don't know about splayed bodies or anything...

I got a little confused when I saw this title. Hahaha. As for your question, I'm not 100% sure. If you could give a general time that he worked it would help.

Odd Nerdrum's earlier work tended to lean on the very gory side. But I doubt that's what you were thinking of. (He's the only guy I can think of off the top of my head)

There's a number of artists that use(d) very graphic images, so it would help if you were a bit more specific.

I searched for a few pictures of Caravaggio, but it's not him. But thanks for the name, I didn't know him yet, he's really good. :)

Sadly enough I don't know anything about the painter, except that his style is realism and looks like Caravaggios for example.

Came across this Rubens painting today of decapitaed Jean-Baptiste:

There's one by Rembrandt of a Doctor performing an autopsy, and his painting of a gutted cow. Those are the only "old master" gory paintings that come to mind.
