Recently I have picked up an interest for drawing in pen. I have no experience with any techniques in drawing, so I am basically completely ignorant in art.

Today I bought a sketch pad, a few pencils, and a pack of micron pens. My main interest (as I know of) is drawing portraits. Last night I drew a couple portraits and they did not come out too bad, but I was drawing with a writing pen and on copy paper.

Well my question is what are some good drawing tutorials on the internet? I need to learn some drawing techniques and how to properly draw a portrait.

Next semester I am looking to take a Drawing 1 class at my local college. My highschool offers a general art class but they focus on all forms of art. But right now I am too impatient to wait a couple months for a college class, so what are some good guides that could help me get started?

Any personal tips from people who remember getting started would be useful as well. Thanks!

Ink drawing is the best thing ever. The best advice I can give you is just do it. To start of maybe you could try outlining the overall shape of the person and then filling in the details like location of eyes, nose, years etc. Good luck.
Got to the thread title "ink drawings for you and you mom" to see some of my ink drawings. Thats how I started, with tech pens. I now love the dip kind. Good luck.
