This is my latest fanart CG to date, a walking tank named "Magi-tek Armor", based from the SNES game "Final Fantasy VI" (or for the english gamers, Final Fantasy III).

The painting were done fully from scratch in Photoshop CS.
I remember playing it back when I was of age ten. Back then, everything in-game were pretty much tied down by graphic limitations.
More abstract methods were used instead to potray the different objects. This in turn gives me (the player) more room for imagination.
Using memory from the visual back then, I came out with a few word-play like "round", "monster", "walking", etc.

With the word play and the games storyline and concept, I designed a machinary suited for the gaming world these days.

Anyway, sorry for the "simple" background. I gave it a few shots but nothing comes out of my mind. The picture probably lacks of planning to begin with, so I guess I should let it end here for now.

Thanks for C&C

Shall add in sketches of the other view when I finally get my scanner to work. :nintendo:

heyman heres what struck me:

* awesome technique and rendering.

* the backdrop is a bit distracting. but cool nonetheless.

* the perspective is so straight on it makes it rather hard to make out the actual shape of the object. But I like the design and forms nonetheless.

Looking forward to seeing it from other views!

I like your name by the way :) draw more!

Mirroring the piece is killing the lighting consistancy.

Also, having that background texture so much sharper than the subject really screws up the focus.

Damn, that looks awesome, can't figure out which one to look at, the background or the armor, great render nonetheless:).
But the mirroring just screwed up the lighting, it's everywhere...if you're gonna mirror in the future it'd be better if you place the lighting point at the base of the mirror axis (that'd come straight in the middle of the pic after mirroring)...hope it helps

The rendering is REALLY nice, I rarely see so much color used in armor and it is definitely successful. But the fact they are almost identical mirrors would be the only downside, maybe the saturated BG makes it harder? I dunno I think its great~*
Terra's theme is permanately etched into my head BTW again thanx.

Theo :
Thanks alot, Theo. I am still pretty new to CG-ing, especially without outlines.
I agree that the perspective is too straight. Like I mentioned, I did not plan the picture. Not even how the mecha looked like.
Guess I should take note of it and remember not to repeat such mistake again.

Dogfood / Charlie_2.0 :
Yea. I'm getting alot of feedback about this too(mirror). I personally thought it wasn't that obvious so I let it pass. Seems like everyone see-through it in a second. Guess it will take lots of time to fix that now unless I add a suitable background to reason it.

Exo :
The background was done in a seperately as the file size was a little disruptive for my coms. I loved how striking it looked, I didn't expect it'd fight for the attention. Maybe I should listen to Sartell and changed more of it here and there. Wait for my update on it :)

Sartell :
Wow~ this comment have a very special meaning to me. I spent quite some time tweaking the image to look closer to the actual FFVI world, I'm glad someone noticed it. Even more glad is that it reminds you of Terra's music. I was humming Locke's music trough-out the whole painting process.

P.S : I stopped using imageshack as it keeps giving the bandwith problem...
I took some time and finally got an deviantarts account to host the large image. Hopes it doesn't get cuts off :/
