awesome lookin stuff man, real gritty... keep drawin man, lets see how you develop, may i suggest you start doin more rendering and pose work just to work on it, for example, the bull you drew that you liked how it came out, well the horns dont seem to be on the right plane as the face, you turned his face to look at us, but the face isnt completely parallel to the view plane, but his horns are perfectly parallel, they shouldn't be, the horn on the right should seem a tiny bit smaller because it should be farther away from us, and we shouldnt be able to see where it sticks out from under his hair, we should be able to see where the other one pertrudes though...

i hope you understand what im tryin to say...
keep on postin!

yeah i know what you mean, it looks wrong. i didnt use any referencesfor the pose and it was really spontaneous, but thanks for pointing it out

i know i generally need to use more reference and life drawing, i usually just make it up:nohope:
ill maybe post some studies or something

anyway heres one i took a lot of time on. it is on A3 paper, and wouldnt fit in my scanner, so the legs are cut off. needs some tidying up

Yeah great characters mate :)
Like the effort you go to with detail too, and your colouring dosnt seem too overpowering, which is nice :)
Nice bit of quirky like in em'!
Thank god you did one with feet too ;)

hi again thanks for the kind words everyone
im working really fast a the moment so ive got lots of stuff to show

this is a watercolour based on a picture of a ranger from the kenya wildlife service, i thought that the uniform looked pretty cool

this is a preliminary pencil sketch to establish shadows

please ignore the fact that none of these have faces ive been concentrating on clothes and getting the body proportions right

with this i was trying for a simpler colour style
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/LjK_89/fullbody.jpg

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/LjK_89/shotgunhat.jpg

this one was a done when i was bored today , by the way thats supposed to be some kind of body armour underneath the coat not actual muscles
ignore the goofy face :teeth:

hey, glad to see your still updating! yea, workin on gettin the anatomy right is definetly a great idea, it seems that most of you characters are lanky and thin, i understand thats a style choice, but even then mistakes can be made.

LjK_89
July 21st, 2006, 09:23 AM
yeah i know that my people are usually lanky, I'll try and bulk up a bit

i did this sketch from reference from the film 'the lost world', the second jurassic park movie

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/LjK_89/dino.jpg

opinions welcome as always

Not bad work here....not bad at all. It seems you put a lot and time and effort into your work. That's excellent. I would highly suggest you get into some REAL life type of anatomy and shade environments. It will increase your skills substantially.

Nice shading in your pencil pieces. I reckon work on limb joints (because elbows and knees look a bit awkward) and work on hands bit more, espcially clenched ones, because they look a bit flat at the moment.
