Well this drawing started out as a little perspective exercise and was not really ment to be finished or anything. But I came to like it and started to make a final picture of some sort. I want to add some details or props, but I've tried different stuff like carts and similar out in the front and that just ruined the composition. So what I need is stuff on the building, extra towers, roofs or whatever.. anything that could spice it up a little.
I don't want to add people to the image as I liek the abbandon look of it.
Still very WIP and mind you I haven't done this sort of images before, so any thoughts, ideas would be appriciated.
So far I have lived without reference and using Painter and Photoshop only.
I reckon some sort of reference could be needed to make the building more beliveable?

It's a little dark and hard to get a sense of it's features. I would suggest adding more grass like the ones around the rocks in the foreground. It's great work though. Kind of Bob Ross meets Lord Of The Rings

The fortress looks kinda small, so you should really put something in there so that one can relate to the scale of things.

I think you should put some towers in the middle of the "courtyard" or whatever that sticks up and overlooks the landscape. And maybe put some archers on the walls or something to make it more alive. If you're going for the more peaceful aproach maybe you can have children playing by the pond in front.

I also think you should either darken the clouds and make it more gloomy or lighten the castle, cause I don't think they mix very well.

Just my two cents. :D

Well i started to fix perspective and stuff, and decided for a more wide, bright and hmm flat place image.
Still a lot to do, but I begin to like the layout and perspective.
Again comments are appriciated.

the sword in the foreground makes it look smaller. depends how large you want it. looks pretty good though!

Yeah agree on that part.. Couldn't really decide on some tombs or a sword, so I just made it a giant sword

Stuff like that will be fixed soon I hope - thanks.

Almost done I think. Just need some minor adjustments and I think I will call it done. Any last comments?

I have added a little full resolution detail, if it's of any interest.

i think that horizon is too defined, maybe adding some blur and mixing colors with the bg will make it better, good work btw

Yeah it is indeed very sharp and defined.. I hope I get time to correct that problem.
Thanks :-]

Wow, hey, that is looking really good! Hrmmi think it would be cool if you brought the sword all the way up to the foreground, as in really big, perhaps just the hilt being seen... I don't know, tis just a thought, I would also add some more light on the sword to kinda make it more shiny looking =D great picture so far.

yeah, the scale of the sword to the wall makes it look like you could leap over the wall like a chain-link-fence.

nice birdy.
