It was a wonderful experience to see all of you guys working together and see these pieces take form and sharing your knowlwdge with us! For the past 4 days I was trying to filter the things that i have learned durring this WS. And all it came down to, or perhaps what i understood is .......let it be, have fun, almost like when you learn how to type on a keyboard ....at first you look and observe....but at one point it becomes automatic....intuitive....at least this is my understanding. Thanks for kicking us in the ass and make us understand is that all we need is motivation and devotion to what we do.Believe in your intentions to achieve what we had in mind... or at least try as close as possible. But most of all, have fun and believe in youself , that is what i have learned.....now back to my sketchbook.....!

Holy hell, what do I say? I really love the creatures, especially the underwater monster. Those alien probing illos are quite disturbing, but perfectly caputure the mood. so much awesome stuff...

i took some scans of some of the stuff i did during the 4 days so people can see them a little better...
theyre mostly unfinished, and there are a couple im thinking about going back into and working on more...

http://www.wesleyburt.com/forum/montreal/demoguy.jpg

http://www.wesleyburt.com/forum/montreal/whiplash.jpg

this was one of the collaboration drawings marko and i did. with this one, marko did a line drawing and then i rendered out the value and added some details...seemed to be a crowd favorite : )

http://www.wesleyburt.com/forum/montreal/collabobirdman.jpg

more...demoing certain things and doodling...

http://www.wesleyburt.com/forum/montreal/straightjacket.jpg

this one was fun. i started out drawing a regular young guy in normal clothes...plain winter coat and baggy jeans but then decided to turn him into a sort of contemporary knight's page....redrew the legs and added lots of detailing to the coat and other stuff. i did another drawing the next day of a wiseman/homeless dude that would be his merlin. i gave that drawing to DS, so maybe he'll scan it if he gets a chance :)

http://www.wesleyburt.com/forum/montreal/knight.jpg

Always wondered, when you are as good as you are at drawing, do you often use helplines? I mean, like cylinders, and all the lines in the face? Do you use an egg-shape when you start drawing a face etc.

Hi !

I've also got some wonderful times there with all of you in Montreal. This 7th workshop was awesome, once again. Thanks to everybody !
I came back home completely tired but also really inspired to push my work further.
I must admit that I felt nervous about doing some demos on the big screen in front of the crowd, mostly because of my shitty spoken English, that don't allow me to explain everything I could. I just hope that what I've done was useful.
For the next one, maybe I'll print some sheets of paper with my notes and the contents of my demos next time. An idea...
I feel sad that some people didn't enjoy this workshop as it could be. Personaly, I'm sure I've even grown up with my art and this CA workshops are surely some of the most inspiring and fantastic art events ever.

Here are all the pics I've done there :
The first one with some bevel and emboss tricks :
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_01.jpg
The environment while Jason was talking :
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_02.jpg
I've tried to show different technics, as much as possible. Hope it could give some ideas (Beginning with abstract patterns, using photos refs, copying/pasting them, paintover...). And with this picture, like I've done at the Pragues workshop, I created a fake bookcover :
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_03.jpg
I've also tried to used this pic in a B&W comic-book page but time was missing. Oblio quickly add some text in captions but the result would have need more work.
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_04.jpg
A character with the synthetic head of HPX :
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_05.jpg
I've done it thinking to copy paste it in my B&W comic page but once again time was missing.
The happiest thing I've done there :
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_06.jpg
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_07.jpg
A digital portrait of Scarlet, done late at night and really tired ;)
Really fun to do (i've never used the digital tool this way before)
http://www.aneyeoni.com/ART/CA_Montreal/Aleksi_CAMontreal2006_08.jpg
And finally my "memories" postcard, with some little drawings of the new guys I've met. Thanks guys ;)

You rock alexsi! You have so much passion for teaching others how to better their artwork and go to far extents to do so.. That is very honorable in my opinion. Most people wouldnt care but, that to me shows how much of a gentleman you are. Thanks for showing us all your tricks.. im sure your going to be seeing alot of them used on these forums now.. i know I am!!!

BTW- the notes idea is great... It would be cool if all the tinstructors did that!
