Hello everyone. I am relatively new here at CA. Looking at the amazing artists here has inspired me to show some of my own. The only thing I am worried about is having this SB be swallowed alive when everyone updates:) I shall try to find a chance in my messed up life to breathe new life in this tread with small updates. Well, 'nough said, it's time for the work. Any crits or comments, no matter how big or little, positive or negative, I will appreciate them immensely. Thanks.

Here is my self portrait. It has problems, like the nose is a bit long, but it is pretty close otherwise.

Here is a dumb little werewolf doodle. No ref.

These are some life studies I did from reference. The top one I did yesterday, but the rest are old.

Cool stuff! I have a few crits though. First off, I think the SP would be better if it had a more definate light source.. The facial expressions are good. Have you studied Loomis? If not, do so immediately, his books really help. And best of all, they're free! There are several links to downlaod the PDF's in these forums.

P.S.- Welcome to CA! Keep it up!

Rolo: Thanks for the visit man. I am currently 18 and wild as hell:)

Cup of joe: Good crit. I was focusing more on being realistic and that is how the light source looked. But I do agree that specifying a light source would have made it more dynamic. Also, I appreciate you telling me about Loomis. Thanks much more stopping by.

Sorry about not posting anything new. I feel kinda cheap but I don't have access to a scanner right now. When I get back home I'll have a couple new pages from my sketchbook. Peace. :yayca:

I agree with what cup of joe said. Keeping the lighting simple, and your shapes simple, will make the image reads a lot better. keep up the good work!

where can i dl the pdf's for the loomis books!?

Sorry for not posting anything new, but I have been out of town for a few days. Here are a few new doodles from my sketchbook. I was hoping to post some older images as well, but loading them on to photobucket took forever. I hate a slow connection - i mean a half hour for two images? Anyway, I hope you guys find something to like. C & C is greatly welcome.

A Few studies...

I know this is a bit unethical, but due to the fact that I am to damn tired after two days of college orientation I don't have any new work to post. So instead I will address the comments, post an oldie, and arrive tomorrow with something new. Thanks.

mull77: I appreciate you stopping by, and for complementing me. I like your work, so your opinion on mine means something to me. I seem to have trouble with foreshortening sometimes but I am also pleased with this. I feel the beginnings of a finnished piece...

this1: Wow! Thank you for such kudos. Thanks for taking interest in my imagined stuff to and for visiting my sb.

This one is actually finnished, not in color but in graphite. - 18 x 24 I believe.

Looking good! Some crits though: you have a lot of trouble with faces, it seems. Especially with eyes. You're drawing your eyes too wide, and generally placing them wrong. Do some studies and you'll be better in no time. :)

Keep it up, and have fun!

Wow, I had planned on updating this baby everyday but that didn't happen:rolleyes:

Here is a concept for a scholarship. This was for the Red Vines Candy company and it was supposed to represent the company creatively. Doing some research on them, I found out that they made a big impact out west long ago. As such, my idea stems off the idea of goldminers searching for something that would make a difference in their lives. Now that may be a lot of ass patting but this is money that's on the line:) The restrictions on this project were that it must be in a 2.5 x 10 inch area and it must be able to be mechanically reproduced. I held back a little on the detail cause I don't want to get disqualified. Well, enough of my ranting. I'm sure you guys would rather see work instead of hearing me bullshit so here yall go. Be brutal, honest, and rate this work. Of course you are also free to complement me if you want *shakes head and smiles*. Word.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this is a WIP, hence the unfinished signs and backgrounds.

Complete2: Hey sorry about the wording. It is not a pencil self portrait, but a pic I took of myself and gave and contour line style look. The confusion was my fault, next time I'll be a bit more specific. Thanks for pointing out the mistake. Cheers man. BTW, you have some really interesting work. Keep it up.:yayca:
