first try with male model

Just got a photo of this big skeleton I drew also. I think the head is too small and some of the major joints look big. I dunno.

Rib cages are fun to draw!

yeah, some of the proportions on the skeleton are a bit off, but its a nice rendering nonetheless. i like your gestures also. in the 30 minute one it looks as if his spine might be shifted a bit to his right from where it should be. other than that you have some nice drawings

These are from your first figure drawing session? Wow! You're going to be a formidable figurative artist if you can throw yourself into practicing the techniques you'll learn in that class. You have the raw talent.

The best advice I can give you (I'm not a pro by a longshot yet) is to work on your gesture drawings. In these, it seems you're just outlining the model. A good gesture drawing captures the attitude, weight, and pose of the model, not what the model actually looks like. Loosen up when you're drawing gesture drawings. Scribble. Make big loopy marks with your whole arm while you concentrate on the pose and weight of your model.

The 30-minute drawing is exceptionally good for a figure-drawing noob. You have a good start here in terms of rendering the planes and forms of the model. Keep concentrating on how light makes bright planes and dark planes on the figure.

noon30: This was from my 6th life drawing class. It was however the first male model I've drawn.

I see what you mean with my gesture drawings too. I'm still trying to get used to drawing with my whole arm. I've always drawn at a very small scale. I'll try and loosen up and get more 'feeling' in my gestures. Thanks!

Killing-people: To tell you the truth I have'nt really learnt about rembrant. But I'll check out this tenebrism thing you speak of. :D
