hi all,
Since there's no more feedback, I guess I can call this one finished (for the time being.)
Enjoy.

Looks cool.
I was wondering why you hadn't put his next snack somewhere near him. Then I spotted the ship ;]

Thanks,
what I meant to say is that there was no more feedback in the "work in progress & help" section where I post those while I'm working on it. Once I'm relatively happy with it and people don't have any more saying, then I call it finished and post it here.

Hey Cyril,
This is looking cool, I dont usually visit the works in progress section to so didint even see this before today.
Im not sure if you will work on it more my only crit would be the creatures right arm seems to get lost with the colors of the wings..maybe a few more highlights could bring it out somewhat.
I like the water and tiny ship thats very well done gives that epic titan feel to the creature.

Creative.
That's looking nice. Is that a cliff wall on the right?

high cyril,
this looks good but i think some of the edges need more work. there does not seem to be a consistent reasoning to their treatment. you did a fantastic job on cthulhu and the see! try an experiment where you pull the colors of of the piece together just a tad more. make a copy layer of the the whole piece, go into image adjust, hue/saturation, hit colorize then move the slider around. it will look completely monochromatic at this point but that is o.k. since it is a layer. hit o.k. then go the the layer and move the opacity down so that it just barely effects the image. you can also try different modes but be careful as they will effect saturation and contrast.
you are painting up a storm and san diego will be glad to have you!

The water looks amazing.
Some of the details on the creature look too sharp/in focus (mainly the face, shoulder and hand). They could probably be softened/blurred slightly.
But, man that water's amazing (did I already mention that?):)

Thanks for the kind words, all. That is exactly the kind of feedback I need.
- Jean-Pierre: thank you. I usually post the pre-work in the "work & help" section, where it belongs at that stage, I assume. I get enough feedback to be able to post many different stages that I don't feel would be appropriate in the "finished" section. I've fixed the right arm in this version. I hope it's better now. Please let me know.
- Mad Lobster: Yes, it is a cliff of sort. It looks like there's too much details but some actually do look like that at a distance. I reworked it a bit to blend it better with the sea.
- Jon: I'm not sure I understand which edges you're talking about. If it's the blurry ones, it was made on purpose to give some sort of motion blur thingy...to make the object less static. I have experimented with that hue/saturation layer and turn it down to barely noticeable, and indeed I do think it pulls the colors subtely. Thanks for the trick. think I need more? it might not be enough, though. Aha, I'm literally painting a storm here, huh? thanks a lot and I hope San Diego will be beneficial for both of us.
chriswahl: the water looks what? :) thanks, man. It was very sharp because I might have played with the sharpening filter a tad too much. This version should be slightly less so, though the focus is still on the parts you mentionned.

cool pic
i think the deep shadows within the fig could be much darker
also his strong white highlights make it seem as if there is a huge spotlight on him
as opposed to moonlight
