I've just seen the trailer for the remake of The Wicker Man, with Nicholas Cage. I've got to ask... why? Why on Earth have they remade this film? The original is one of my favourite movies, and as a piece of cinema is nigh on perfect. When are they going to start remaking crap films, not good ones!?

Yeah this is another remake I don't get.
Hollywood ran out of inspiration so now they're dredging up classics to remake, because people will recognise the title and go "oh I never saw the original, I'll have to check this one out!"
They did the same with the French movie "Taxi", it was a brilliant movie, and not even very old, but instead of just porting it across to the US cinemas (which I'm pretty sure would have done fine in the box office), they make a shoddy, laughable remake with Queen Latifah and some mook. Lost all the humour and in fact the whole point of the movie.
Bah! Remakes!
Mr. Grumpy of Dundee here :)

I'm an oddball, but I love watching remakes... Maybe because I want to see other people's interpretation of the film (most notably, classics)... Yeah, yeah, I'm weird, I know... Although I know 90% of them will not compare to the original and maybe ultimately worse (The Machurian Candidate, Rear Window), I still like to see them.... Heck, I was still hoping for that Casablanca remake with Ben Affleck and J.Lo... ;)
I heard they're remaking Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai with George Clooney... As in a direct remake, not like A Bug's Life or The Magnificent Seven...
