Hello all. Posted some pencil portraits on the sketch/wip forums. But here i have something different. I know i may not be anywhere near as good as the other posters on this forum but you'v gotta start somewhere right? Anyway thats why i'm here: To learn and improve my drawings, so please take a second to look and give feedback on what you think. So here it is; my design of a city concept car...

I like the shape of the car, relatively aerodynamic, though the details on the cars' inner wheels (forgot what theyer called ._. ) is lacking, and kinda off, since the back wheel looks like it was changed using the transform tool to make it look rotated on the wheel (the space in between the spokes sets it off) and the underside of the car could be broken up a bit more rather than a straight black box, perhaps a bit more features in underside/back of the design would be nicer. Also, rework that shadow on the ground, 2 points where it meets the wheels aren't covered.. and to be honest, id rather ditch the shadow altogether and shade it according to either: a landscape/background or from a different lighting angle.
I'd also soften that background blue/mozaic tile.. its distracting from the car. Or better yet, add a more dynamic background than just a simple backdrop.
my 2c's. Hope it helps, and spacetoy may be able to cover alot more than I.

okay
what I did - quickly I might add
your wheel arches were all over the place - they now follow the wheel better.
I have made the wheels bigger
Got rid of the silly background - you dont want it competing with the car
Distorted the whole stance - slightly wider / lower
suggestion of interior
dlo - window graphics following forms better
getting rid off bottom edges of wheel arches - to better flow with sill etc.
Sill surface (dark lower area in door)
more contrast
different colour
I hope this helps

Wow! that was quick :O ... Thanks alot for your feedbacks.
Fafnir: I agree, i have to do something with the back end. As i focused on the front design of th car i sort of neglected the back abit.
Spacetoy: Aw man, that looks awsome. Did you use a tablet? i really need to get me one as working with mouse is painful. :nohope: Also like the looseness of the sketch. That really helped mate, thanks.
Again thanks alot for taking you tim to help me out guys, i appreciate it. More comments are more than welcome.

You need to be aware of the contrast in your pieces. The highest point of contrast is a focal point, and on yours it was the background. For me it seemed to flatten out the car. I would get rid of the texture on the background and try to both add sharper highlights and carry the darks found in the wheels elsewhere on the car.
Hope that helps in your next one.

wow spacetoys calls are all spot on.
good crittin!
Especially adding an interior and upping the contrast really helped this piece out. and getting rid of the horrid backdrop.
original design is nice but a bit generic yes?

Well Spacetoy has quite some experience in the field of automotive design...and as always, can add those crucial details (sounds fanboy?...yeah, I figured as much:P....)
