View Full Version : DSG 1081: Creature: FANTASY RUMINANT HAS SINGLE LARGE, CRESCENT-SHAPED, HORN

[ Your animal need not have any obvious display of it's digestive process, but it should have hooves and some other characteristics reminiscent of cows and sheep and such. ]

[ The horn is centrally located on the head, and will probably be the most noteworthy thing about this creature. ]

[ Please avoid making it look like a goofy unicorn. ]

Not sure if it's "crescent"y enough but hell I like it. Weird bison/okapi hybrid ... thing. Two hours I think?

Klys: He should be clicking his heels he looks happy.
Surfacemonkey: Great... I'm gonna have new nightmares...
Brightdreamer: Nice n' loose but clean. I like. If I were to make a suggestion it'd be to find a pen or something that you could vary the quality of line with.

Bleating in the barren foothills of Souther Marjikistan, these anthrocamels live in small packs, eating the low shrubs, and sustaining on very little water.

Well, Im not really sure what came out. Its kind of a cow-like millipede that eats the algae off rocks. Off of BIG rocks.

The horn keeps reminding me of Santa's hat.

PS this is my first contribution to concept.org forums, so I am a little nervous.

The Red Einhorn of Stedtfeld Systems is a horse-sized ruminant with white fur on white skin (which is quite rare in animal kingdom). Just on ears, snout, mane and tail there are some darker hairs. The male Einhorn wears a single horn on its forehead (the females are unhorned). Hooves and horn are getting crimson red in mating season.

I had to mess with the contrast; I tried drawing on some glossy cardstock and I think it made the lead hard to pick up on the scanner. Sorry.

Sean, I love the colors!

I see a couple of people here using the blue on the horn. For some reason, originally I also thought that the horn MUst be brigyht blue.

Hey Guys, many interesting sketches for this one. My favorite is Aga’s entry. Cool and funny. He looks so bored with his existents. Yeah, life can be hard especially when you are a ruminant. Hehe. :D

Here is main [I have used some references].

It has one horn, crescent shaped...... I don't know where the wings can from. the "Fantasy " part I think.

I call it " My name is Hathor, I never asked to be a god...."

My first ever DSG post!! I started learning to draw in earnest two days ago, so everyones criticisms are appreciated.

Just a simple line drawing until I learn shading and hatching some more.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g294/nicoblahs/Ruminant.jpg

What I don't like. The horn doesn't taper smoothly, the right nostril and eye were fudged in and look lopsided.

What I like: The overall concept, graceful looking combo of camel, giraffe, and deer... with a horn. The ears.

Vinc- you crop the tail maybe too mechanical. Nice colouring on the creature. I dont like when background is only around the scene ,dont like white border.

First.. thanks to the daily sketch group. It's kicking my ass and helping me get motivated again.

I hope it's not too late to post to this thread, I've been curious to see what I'd come up with for this subject. I think I may give this one more attention and turn it into a finished piece.

Seany D - I love the feel of your piece. Mysterious and otherworldly. Cool.
