what a year. i can honestly say that this has been one of the most interesting years of my life, it has been one of the hardest and most demanding, and also one of the most rewarding, every emotion i am capable of is represented with in these pixels, I cant explain what it is like to seee them all together, Its like looking back at a year of your life in an instant. When i started this i had no idea what to expect out of it, I think one of my motives was to find myself or my "soul". life is ironic , i devote so much time and energy to this struggle of self reilization and sometimes i feel like i would trade it all if only i could go back to being the person i was before i ever posed the question. regardless its too late to turn back now, every anwser i find leads me to new questions. and these questions lead to new growth. i have learned so much from this and i am still so far away from all of my anwsers. So I must continue. I want to thank the CA comunity for all of your support and encouragment this year.
the rabbit hole of my own narcissim is dark and deep, but you guys make the journey brighter, and I am still currious to see how far down it goes.

So.. how does it feel when God visits you?
I'm looking all over it and i recall each day.
I want to download it and make a HUGE poster out of it - THIS IS MY FIRST YEAR OF CONCEPTART.ORG - the first year of drawing! And i want to remember EACH day!

Thank you AJ!

Oblio

See - right there.. i lost my job, there my first asignment, the thunderdome, the "gotcha", the "let's do an upside down portrait" and so on... pure love!

Have you considered publishing those in book form Mr. Jones? Add some commentary to some (or all) of the portraits and you've got yourself a cash-cow. I'd really like to see these as a high-quality art book...

Hell, seeing as how it's such a cool accomplishment in gerneral, I'm sure that it could be something really motivational for people to check out each day.

That's my two cents.

Nice work :)

I have looked every your selfpotrait.. guess what? you delevoped your personality (not changed but make it more personal).. I feel in your latest potraits that you do have more confidence now than before.. It is always good to see the small or big development even if you're already good artist..

I think same thing with Rembrandt's selfpotraits

I will continue to follow your journey in your soul :)

large project/personal undertakings are such a powerful experience, that the change it causes can be very intimidating. It is always worth it though.
I have never done anything of this nature, but, having worked so hard to become skilled in the last few years i can, perhaps, understand some of what you must feel.

Hey Android Congrats!! I remember when I first heard about this forum I was still in school and it was when CA had the old server. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this dude doing a self port a day. I thought to myself "how long can this dude hold out?". Well you have answered my question!
My 9 year old son, Kaegan, always asks to see your new ones. So I'm sure you never realized how and who you would leave an impression on, when you first started this.
I think my favorite pieces are your TOOL induced ones; The weird colors and third eyes. Or the one you made for Oblio, back when he lost his job.
I am attaching this link
Guinness Book of World Records (http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/) . give it a shot. I did a search in there and I don't hink there are any takers. It wouldn't hurt to submit it.

I just took on a job of doing 96 illustrations before September 1. before I complain and worry about being able to do it, I will think of your commitment to your SPs.

Thanks,
Mitch

thanks to one and all, your inspiration is my greatest award.

im used to looking at myself through my own eyes, sharing these with you has given me the oppourtunity to see myself through your eyes, that experience has had a change on who I see when i look at myself, it becomes a part of me, and you become a part of me. and we all come closer together, closer to becoming one.

lets see how close we can come.

I'd just like to say thank you Andrew, you're an inspiration to us all. You inspired me to start my own portraits, and though i'm not at all as dilligent or creative as you are, I can say that it has totally helped me artistically and spiritually, and continues to do so. I had a feature article a few months back in the high school newspaper for some of my portraits, and I recently won a thousand dollar scholarship for a painted portrait, and got about 2 minutes of airtime during a local tv interview. So you've also set me on my way to fame (right...)

But seriousky, thank you, and if you're ever in the SF Bay Area, swing by the little town of Lafayette

this is really impressive android, I have been part of this forum for only a matter of months, but I've always been keeping a keen eye on your work and your words. There's
so many different facets you have explored they seem to have strengthed and expanded the 'signature' in your work a great deal. it's almost as if you have defined a range of emotive states which could referenced later like colour charts but on an infinitely more advanced level. really inspiring. thanks for giving so much to the people of this forum and congrats on this great achievement. hardcorrre!

ive sat now for a solid ten minutes with the intention of typing something in response, but words arent forming as easily as they normally do. i'm lost in thoughts of the depth to which it takes to undergo such a process and the personal discoveries you must have achieved.

A purely masterful work and mind-blowing show of determination, Android.

I can't help but wonder what changes would come upon a man who would undertake such a monumental task of self-realization. I'm afraid I would be crushed by it. You're like a mythological figure looking into the cauldron of The Fates to see themself. A masterwork like this is nothing short of magical.

I just had a shiver. This is the first time I have come across this thread; but how alike we are its insane.

I too have been through the stage whee I did not know who I was or what I am doing. I almost cracked, or maybe I did, and now I am painting nothing self portraits. At first I tried to place logic onto it such as representing emotions or something of the like, but in the end it seems to be a similar step that you took. I have not gone as far as you by painting a portrait a day, but it sure does resemble 'why' I am doing it. Its a good idea I think to paint yourself everyday for a year; I might take it that step further and do just that.

http://conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&f=9&page=1&pp=75&sort=dateline&order=desc&daysprune=-1

This isn't all he drew in that time either, these were just a side thing he did

I realize he paints them on the side. I do not just paint portraits. I am in Uni with 6 individual modules, including graphic design. I am not comparing myself with him in terms of work output, just the reasoning behind doing these portraits.

I did not know he has made a 1000, thats quite impressive.
