Man, this is some great stuff. I love the way you handled the black lollipop. Nice touch with the halftone in the bg. I really like how painterly the last one is too. Just asspats all-around from this corner. :)

just like to mention that on your webpage, your art and sketches thumbs are all the way at the right, while every other page is aligned left, it's tiring to read, especially on a wide screen.

thanks for the comments guys!
ah.heng - thanks for mentioning that. I've been messing around with alignment so they're all sort of temporarily set. I'll probably move those to the left

Nice work! I particularly like the first and last ones. The first one reminds me alot of Jeffery Jones' work, with the loose handling of the background and the sort of "spotlight effect" on the chest. The last one seems to have alot of Phile Hale....which IMHO is a good thing :-) It would be interesting to see you do more stuff with that dramatic, harsh lighting.

hey arwar
love the two first ones
on the girl wih the lollipop i don't really like that red + green outline the girl seems to have. I don't like the way the halftone dots are so present, i think they flatten everything out instead of being in the background. Mayby it's because of the dark color. I adore her haircut, really cool :)
oil painting is great as well, love the simpel background.
btw, I added your link on my site a while ago, i hope you don't mind :D

hey arwar, wicked to see your art again. you're light years ahead of where you were man, super cool work. the black lollipop one is the bomb, though i must say i've seen a similar concept used in illustration (can't remember the name now).

Picture number two with the woman in a nuthouse - man thats....thats chilling, disturbing, phew, gooseballs all the way. Dude, you have a serious gift to convey the real horror in these images. Hats off! And the girl suckin on a black lollipop - man, those eyes are EVIL, the way you do faces, dude, I'm speechless.
I just found this image on your website: http://www.jenecio.com/images/bathroom.jpg. It really scares the shit out of me, and turns my stomach on the side. You should join art department in making horror movies.

wow thanks a lot guys!
Cthogua - thanks man, i love those guys. I really enjoy painting that type of spot light lighting but i try not to overuse it. but...if you insist! hahah
Jens - thanks for the crit. I see what you mean about the halftones being too prominent. I could tone them down to a light brown or pink color? And thanks a lot for linking me. I'll link you up on my site too, you've got some awesome work on your site
Gezstar - thanks gez =) I think i know what you mean about seeing that concept before. At the time i painted it, it seemed completely original, but right now i feel as if I've seen something pretty similar.
miljenko - thanks a lot man! I should try painting happier things lol. But I'm super flattered that my darker stuff scares you. It's an awesome feeling when your work can emit some sort of emotion in someone =)
anyway, here's something new I just finished
It's a tree spirit known as a Batibat. They are described as huge fat women that live in trees, they're size can differ depending on the size of the tree. If their tree is cut, they will continue living in it. They can live in human houses that are built with its wood. At night they sit on top of the sleeping owners suffocating them to death. They also cause bad dreams. In this picture, she is being worshipped as a god by the Tahamaling, which are red colored forest spirits who protect the animals. Tahamaling are actually only female, but i added a male in their for fun...

lemme know if there's anything i can fix
thanks!

hey arwar
thanks a lot for adding me to your links!
I love the fat woman and again the haircut you gave her, gives a lot of personality. Also you got the overal mood of the forest, the way you handled the lightning. Mayby one thing the cast shadow of the tree branch above her head seems to be going at different direction than the shadow of the branch that's casting a shadow over her body/breast. I don't know, there's a good chance that I'm wrong about that :)
The couple on the right seem a bit stiff.
I wonder where you got that description of the god, i really liked reading it.
I read gezstars comment, the one I had to think of was this painting of Michael Hussar, still quite a bit different :) http://www.boncap.com/mag/selection/images/5797_w.gif

thanks guys. I took what Jens said into consideration and fooled around with those two figures. They were sorta meant to be stiff, and their fingers were actually spread out, in a sort of outstretched stance, but since the hands and fingers were too small to see, their arms just ended up looking ridiculously straight for no reason.
here's where I'm at now. thanks a lot for the crits guys

The splash page image is gorgeous, but I'm not feeling the big blocky lettering. Your image speaks volumes as it is, and I think some understated typography is the way to go. The vertical line on the left between the text and the illustration interrupted the flow I thought as well... here's what I mean. (Avenir is the font by the way...)

I agree with strych on the splash, i prefer his type over your's. In the school I'm in they care a lot about the integration of typography in illustration. I kinda suck at that too but I'm learning a lot from other students who do a lot better than me in that area (opposed to my technical drawing/painting skills being better). The thing to do is to incorporate typography as part of the illustration, not as something you add at the end of the drawing process. So when you start making thumbs add the place for text at the same time. You might want to design your illustration around your text or your text around your illustration or both equally important.
In strych's example the text is better, but it still looks added on the end. That's because the image wasn't designed with room for text in mind. In this case i think the illustration would look better on it's own.
A good example of text incorporation in illustration is ashley wood or james jean, and lots of french guys i can't remember the name of. I don't know a lot of them cause i've only just started to paying attention to it (and only in my school work really :))
just my 2 cents
