Ok, I'm trying to step up the quality of my work. (yet again) So please let me know what you think. I figure everyone else has done a Batman.....so here's mine.....(it's a stylized bust)...

The way you modelled the details is great, anatomy seems a bit "invented".

How so? I've looked at tons of other versions of Batman, and made it a point to get the anatomy right. Please clarify. (I mean It is a bit stylized, but aren't all super heroes?) I wanted it to be MY version of Batman...not a copy of everyone elses. The longer head is a style choice I made, if that's what you are referring to.:) Thanks for the crit, I just like to hear more of an explanation intsead of just a couple words.

yeah, some of the anatomy looks off but it maybe just the pic. It kinda looks as if he has no clavicles at all and his deltoids are really small. The way the pectorials fold over doesn't look right either. Post from another angle just for safety's sake. The details are pretty good though. You're modeling in sculpty right?

Yes, it is Sculpey. I want to make sure this is done before I bake it. :) Unfortunately the pic I posted is much darker than I would like, and it doesn't show very well. I look at it in real life, and it's much better looking. I will try to take better pics soon.:chug:
Ok here's a side view.......any help or whatever is appreciated. I like how it looks myself, but it's always good to hear others opinions. I am never going to stop learning. I have only been at this for 4 1/2 months, and am really trying to improve.

The head is ok (no crits there), it's rather the way the breast muscle joins the shoulder (I'm sorry, I just don't have an anatomy book at hand right now).

Yeah, your upper pectorials come over at a really exaggerated angle and should pull a little bit more forward while you should have one more deltoid muscle between the full outside and the outter pectorial where it meets the arm. Or maybe you just have it a bit too far out from center and far back from side.
Does that make sense??? *L*
Anyways, the stylization is kicking moucho @$$. Keep it up and keep us posted.

Very cool. I have some sculpy I want to work with. I'm curious, is that entire piece sculpy, or did you just layer sculpy over some sort of frame? Any tips on sculpy would be great.
At first glance, I did realize the piece was very stylized, but from the front, it does lok like the pecs and the delts are one muscle huge mass that cover everything, including the clavicle.
However, putting "realism" aside, I think it's a great version. I would love to see more of your sculptures. Thanks for sharing it with us.

the split brow ridge is kind of throwing me off - otherwise, i really like it!

Jester- Ok, I'll look into it. Thanks. :)
kyphur- LOL!! It makes sense...I think. So I did a good job, just have to tweak the PECTORALS where they reach the shoulder muscles (Delts)? and have them pull forward and down more perhaps? AND...somehow have the clavicles show through the costume more...right? Then all will be well? PLEASE GOD LET ALL BE WELL THEN. Hahahaha I have only put about 6 hours into it over 2 days...so I guess I'll just fix those spots. Thanks.
platypusStar- It has a screw that comes up inside of the center of it, and a bit of aluminum foil wrapped tightly over the screw to give the sculpey something to hold onto, but the rest is pure clay. Thanks, I think it looks cool too. But, apparently I still have much to learn, but I think I've come really far in 4 months regardless, and can't wait to see where I go from here. It's harder when you're self-taught, and have to rely on outside opinions to improve. I'm learnin' though.:chug:
Adam- Thanks man, I'm not sure what you mean about the brow ridge, but I'm glad you like it regardless.

Hey!! Thanks. Those look to be very helpful. I'll check into it. I really want to do well at this, and intend to impress. People on this forum have always been hard to impress, so I'm really pushed to learn. Other forums aren't as critical, and that can be good for the ego, but, I won't improve unless people find faults. When I correct any flaws.....I remember for next time.;) :chug:

Four months? Wow, that's very impressive. I'd say you have an eye for this. Do you have a webpage of your work? Again, I would love to see more of your work, be it sculpture, or 2D. Do you do any 3D computer modeling? Have you thought about trying it? With your sculpture skills, you might be able to do some great work with it.
I just checked out your website. Great work. Do you have any tips or methods to give an amature sculpy artist? Would greatly appriciate it. Thanks.

PlatypusStar- I'm still learning myself, but my advice to you is what I tell myself everytime I go at this. Create what you see.....whether it be in your mind or in real life. Don't fake it, and be true to your vision. Make sure you have it layed out in your mind or on paper FIRST. It'll save you time. I have now added this.....HAVE LOTS OF REFERENCE MATERIAL AT YOU DISPOSAL. ;) LOL. It usually takes me from start to finish about 6-10 hours over a couple days to complete a sculpt. I'm learning to take my time more though. Remember, learning is like the Force.......it'll always be with you...ALWAYS.:D
After 8 hours over 3 days from start to finish here is what I hope to be my FINAL version of the DARK KNIGHT....(I've been pulling my hair out....well not really)....let me know what you "learned" people think of it now. (wow a run-on sentence) Thank you. (OTHER PICS AT MY WORKSITE)

Thanks for the info, I really appriciate it.
The pecs and delts are looking great, they're look like two seperate muscles, and you've kept that stylized look. Great sculpture all around.
