When refering to charcoal do you mean conte? or soft charcoal sticks.
Both look good to me. You have a good hand, 30 min. is good timing. I prefer smoother look when looking at figure drawings as opposed to rough. But that just may be your digi pics.

dom: well, ive been using the generals charcoal pencils lately, 6b. the background i used compressed charcoal. yeah, they are actually smooth, but the digital pic sucks butt.
android: haha, aww you are too kind. its really amazing to hear that from such a talented individual, thank you and i will push on.

Damn, how did you keep the model in a standing pose for 30 minutes? Our models always drop dead after 10 minutes of standing:)
Nice Work btw.

Very nice. I wish the models I drew, would dress up too. Anyways, Dragon, if charcoal isn't working for you I suggest using conte pencils. 1710 2 or 3b. I was the same way before I found conte pencils. Now, there's nothing like em, they are so smooooooth!

Yeah, I jsut spent like $60 on art supplies for school (2 18x24 tablets, 3 sketch books, charcoal and other stuff) so It might be a while before I get to conte.. I was htinking about buyoing some, but its kind of expensive.. maybe next semester Ill pick some up and mess around with it..
Today I had a nude figure drawing session, and I did some nice stuff with charcoal pencils.. I really like them. I think I might try a different brand of charcoal sticks next time though..
