Does anyone have any thoughts on artist representatives? Are there artist reps for concept artists? If so does anyone use or recomend a Rep.
I'm a conceptual artist working at Midway games looking for freelance work, I could draw real good but when it comes to negotiation/money/marketing myself I am an idiot...

I've been quickly looking into it as well and it seems the vast majority of ppl I know that do freelance outside of daywork just get the contracts on their own / trough word of mouth or previous employers.
I've also read that some full-time freelance artists used a lawyer to be their rep. (I don't remember exactly who) The lawyer would know the ropes at negociating a nice sum of money and make a cut on it. Which pleased the artist and left him time to concentrate on his work. That plus knowing the contract would be rock solid !
I've also seen more classical artists that went to the more generalised idea we have of an artist rep which didn't seem too appealing to me.
I hope it helped a little bit even tho there aren't any definate answers to your questions :(

My experience is you are better off representing yourself, even in the circumstance of using a headhunter to find you a permanent job, They are out for thier own benefit not your's.

It is all about networking. make contact's and keep up those friendships, you will be surprised when bones get thrown your way.
