Wow, that's pretty sexy. I'd like to see the full painting without the grayed down overlay though..looks like we're missing a lot of the vibrancy if the closeup is any indication. But damn...painting that tower must have been madness.

Indeed. Not something I wish to do again in a hurry :[

I actually enjoyed painting the smoke on the right side of the picture, which came as a welcome releif once the tower was finished.

Thanks for the comments.
The sky is the only thing which is bugging me, it didn't dry as even as I hoped it would.

awsome man! its a little flat and graphic. Think its because the glare from the rockets should produce a darker image (sky color mainly, probably should be darker)

Gavman, that piece is MAD. Please tell me what is the format of the picture. Also what is the smallest brush that you used? The reason why I ask you this is because I have trouble painting small details with acrylic (don't ask me why, ignorance I guess :S )

coldKodiak - yeah, in the image I painted it from the sky was very dark blue despite the photo being taken mid-day (due to rocket boosters contrast). Well spotted. I decided to paint it lighter for aesthetic purposes, so people can see it's a daytime scene. Works quite well now it's been framed.

miljenko - What do you mean by format of the picture?
As for brushes, I used two of them (sable), a number 1 for the intricate stuff and a number 6 for the larger fill areas.

I like to work with slightly watered down Acrylics, as it makes painting fine detail a lot easier (like writing with an ink pen almost). When using such a small amount of paint on a fine brush, the paint trys to dry very quickly if you don't water it slightly before use.
The other thing which helps painting small detail,,, patience my friend ! and lots of it.

I also noticed how the towers quality looks better lower down in the picture... I must have improved my technique during the painting.
Cool :}

Well, I meant what was the SIZE of it, like canvas size, or paper size, or whaterver you were working on... :^^:
