Tried to get as close as possible to the actual masterpiece from Leonardo da vinci, keep faithfull to elements like the sfumatto technique he developed, get it to look like a paint, photoshop helped a lot, the background is a mix with the paint and a 3d landscape i modeled on zbrush.
c&c welcome, always a pleasure to post here.

its a cool piece, really good, i like. way better than i could do for sure. especially considering the fact that i dont have a wacom. hahah

a couple things:
her face kinda looks....strained....like she's flexing the muscles in her eyelids and around her lips. kinda odd.....davincis face looks way more relaxed somehow.
and overall i think the whole thing looks a little soft. the best way i can explain that is when photographers put those gauze filter lenses on cameras to soften up their subjects features...feels like you painted that effect. there just aren't enough/any hard edges in this.everything feels too soft.
like the sleeve on the left side (her right), in davincis piece, it has a very crisp look to it. here, you've softened it quite a bit.
and last, i dont see any trees in your piece. maybe its just my interpretation, but i think theres lots of what are supposed to be trees back there that you turned into stone.

for those interested in seeing the original for comparison:

aside from that , i have no other crits.

a realy great work on texturing and modeling :xpld:

the only thing i find a little bit strange is the fabric layer on her head (dont know the engl. word for it). he`s a bit to far away from her hair.

nevertheless envy-worth :^^:

complete2 feeling like a paint was the objective but you are right about the background i didnt came far enough in it only one day working on it, i had the conscious it had trees but not the time to make them =\, about the paint itself there are quite lot of photoshoped versions on the net, here is the most reliable i found on my research about the paint.

i take my wrong crit back =) on your ref is it done the same way, sorry.
as i saw it yesterday on cgtalk, it first looks like you`ve used alpha maps for the hair and give the first one to less transparency. is it understandable? :bashful:

but davinci is dept :^^:

hope we`ll see our soccer teams in the final again. reveeeenge :cheerleader:
