ok, so the cat is out of the bag.... man, I cant wait to play this game when its finally all put together. feedback from the floor seemed to be very positive. I was giddy like a school girl seeing people playing through. I managed to get one room in the demo. it was my true E3 cherry pop this time around.....

anyway, love to hear what other people think about it, love, hate, everything.....

SUCKS! Yuo fail!

Actually, I'd change it so you turn gradually the more you aim towards the edges of the screen and outside the screen... (seemed as if you turned digitally by just aiming outside the screen, which places the aim at the edge of the screen, which could be inconvenient) but of course I'm just guessing, I haven't tried the game or Wii.

It's looking pretty nice, but where are the panties? Maybe Samus could find SpaceHunter Panties (TM) that give her different powers? High-Jump-Panties! Long-Shot-Panties! Screw-Attack-Panties!

There's some videos over at YouTube, and from what I can tell people picked up the controls pretty fast. A few did the usual fail-to-turn-and-stare-into-a-wall but I'm not sure if that was due to the controls or them sucking. Graphics looked nice, as did the levels.

But seriously, panties.

...allright then, so be it, I'll make my own Metroid game with panties... and I'm not letting ESRB or Jack Thompson near it!

yeah, it sucks, they have an expert setting for the controllers, which gives the cursor much more of a constant influence over the camera, but really nobody knew that it was a setting that you could use. the default control scheme leaves quite a large dead zone in the center of the screen which is solely for aiming the gun, and not turning. I have yet to see any video footage of someone playing it on expert mode, but the control scheme is there...... it feels to me a million times better than what you see. none of that walking down a hallway kinda looking to the side crap......

Yeah, someone should really have made it obvious in the demo, or at least the Nintendo guys pointing it out at the start of someone playing.
Would have been way better. Most of the complaints I saw were about this.
Oh well, good to know it's there (I heard someone mention it but didn't really know if it was true), so thanks. Can't wait to pick this up come launch day.

I noticed some real time physics when you shoot the 4 areas on a door and the 4 thick cables fall, dragging when they hit the floor. Also noticed some sweet smoke trails when you shoot a rocket! Was awesome 'cos one time i was watching a video and a rocket got deflected off this ship somehow and completley changed it's direction, and the smoke came way up close to samus' visor. There were other awesome effects I can't be bothered mentioning! Lets just say I've watched videos of this game over and over!! : ]
How much more work has to go into the game? Or can't you say?

'stackable' weapons sounds fun, it's always nice ot be able to tailor your own stuff, especially if getting one part will exclude another in some way, so the game will play differently each time.

Megaman Legends had a very nice weapon system too. You had a number of slots in the buster (you could get more slots) and in those you could put different boosters (http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/n64/megaman64/busterparts.shtml), each having different stats for range, damage, reload, energy use. Then there were the special weapons (http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/n64/megaman64/weapons.shtml) which had the same stats but you upgraded with money instead.

The love:

The psyched, giddy side of me is pretty excited. Metroid is my favorite franchise (Super Metroid bordering on a religious experience) and I thought Echoes had some of the tightest art direction of any game this generation, alongside RE4. It was nice to see things move in a more eerie direction, which I thought fit the series well.

I'm happy that stacked beams are making a come back, their return is most welcome. You can't go wrong with paying homage to Super. The particle effects look sweet too. The missles in paticular are looking mighty good this time around. The mention of slightly more upbeat pacing sounds great too. I'm also into the idea that MP3 will be setting the bar for use of the Wiimote and I can't wait to see the various ways it gets implemented. You only get the novelty of new controller innovations every few generations and it's rad to see a franchise I'm passionate about riding the crest of that wave. Nintendo seems to have a lot of confidence in the team, for obvious reasons. Go Retro.

The hate:

On the flipside, the critical hardheaded Metroid purist in me always rears its head at these times. I'm a bit disappointed at what seems like a slowly diminishing focus on exploration and platforming in favor of combat since the games went 1st person. Both elements have always been present, but they seem to have inversed their proportions.

As a fan of the classic side scrollers I also can't help but think that the Prime games are bogged down by superfluous cut scenes. Granted that it's only a demo, but there seemed to be more evidence of this in what was presented at E3. Even though they're typically pretty short and to the point, they stilt the flow of the gameplay and tend to sap major events of any real surprise. The option to switch them off altogether would be welcome, especially on repeat play throughs when you're inclined to skip through them anyway. Part of the beauty of Super Metroid was that you progressed without any obvious narrative interruption. From start to end the player was fully in control, and it made for an unparalleled sense of immersion. I wish that the newer entries in the series would seize upon this style of presentation and run with it via real time scripted events, but perhaps I'm in the minority.

Anyways, I hope you'll pardon my geeky rambling. You opened the door and my inner Samus couldn't resist. However things shape up I rest easy knowing that Corruption is going to kick some major ass. The first two Prime games provided some of the better gaming moments I've had in the past few years and I have high hopes Corruption will continue the trend.

I love Metroid, and I hope this one delivers. I was thinking though, that controller reminds me of something...hmmm...a mouse and a keyboard! In FPS games I use my mouse to look around and my keyboard for walking, jumping, taunting, etc.

although im just a lowly environment artist, I do my best to nudge things into that direction. There should be more than a few things that you should appreciate ;) ...... I hope......

Game Informer finally posted a video of the attract video that was made to play when the demo sits idly.

It shows off some more other than what was going on in the demo level
