Ok, I’ve had an account here for years now. And regularly lurk the forums, scouring them for art that strikes me as particularly pretty. A number of the posters here have provided valuable stylistic cues :)

But now the time has come to overcome my cowardice and post some work. So here goes, my sketchbook, and what will hopefully be a continuous, regularly refreshed dump for stuff I think is cool enough. Lets begin with some sketches and some painted out stuff.

I was on a binge of Warcraft 3 games recently and decided to draw me a Ghoul.

His pose is a weird one, I was trying to replicate this unusual crouch that this one character was doing across similarly uneven terrain in a comic book I was reading.

This was just some sort of shading exercise, again, I was on a Blizzard RTS binge recently so this is a starcraftey marine type dude.

And finally, this little guy, I think he’s cute :)

you're prolly gonna get a reply like this alot but, i am really digging the second to last drawing. its high quality shading is just supperb. the last one is cute. a simple drawing. but nothing really unique about him. he's like a cross between the alien in futurama, and the toy-aliens from toy story.

Gotta agree, that marine is quite nice.

The second one is the weakest, mainly because the anatomy is all kinds of wrong. The proportions are way off - small head, itty bitty legs and munchkin feet.

The good thing about it is that you're trying new things, new poses, etc. So, even though it doesn't look right, keep drawing out some more unusual poses while you study anatomy. It'll help give you a good sense of what certain muscles do when viewed from different angles.

Thanks for your comments guys, they’re encouraging ;) I’ll try to post some more soon, to keep this thing going.

And yeah, the Conan guy is especially bothersome to me, but I kind of like him at the same time, maybe because the faults in it aren’t as glaring to me as they should be? I dunno, there is only one solution in any case, and that is to keep drawing :)

yep, second to last is tops. I desire to shade metal like you do. :) I'm sure its just gradients... otherwise it is very nice. Love the pose of the first as well!
