I'm in one of those tail-chasing things, and I just need some quick feedback. Tell me A. B. C. or D. which colour field you prefer. No context, overall feeling.
Thanks!

I'm partial to d too. There's just something about a nice set red/orange colour scheme that makes this character a character ;)

c or d, either one. I'm equally divided. I think that c looks more (steriotypically) alien, but d looks more...red. (<--I just like it, but I don't know why, in other words)

Hey! Good, good... Now, although the votes seem to be leaning D.-wards, I've got a duplicate thread going elsewhere, and it's all pretty even. I may be outta luck getting a concensus, but more votes are appreciated - I think I'm gonna work on something else while I get feedback...
Thanks for your opinions, folks!

Hm... I'd say B or D. By the way, what medium are you using for this? Or, if its a program, what brush? It looks like you did it in a really bright chalk, but then... how would that explain the color variations...

Dementist, thanks for your vote! I think I'm going with D. after all. Just goes to show ya how important it is to give a little thought to a concept before proceeding! I'm gonna try to do that more...
As for the medium: PHOTOSHOP. I like to sketch with the airbrush setting, about 15px diam., w/ brush shape dynamics on, Normal Mode, at about 5-20 Flow, 75%-100% Opacity.
Yeah, it does look like chalk or coloured pencil, I guess...
I'm still messing around with different techniques, and maybe this wasn't ideal for the subject matter? I feel this it gonna go through some real changes, though... So the overall effect may be very different from what you got now.
My main concern right now is figuring out what the rest of him looks like... :D

Heh... you're welcome. Sorry if the grammar didn't make much sense on that last post, I was pretty rushed. Personally, I think its a very fitting style for a beast/alien/whatever. It shows a nice amount of texture and muscle tone. My only qualms about it are that A- even though the red/yellow set doesn't show it as much, he still sort of looks like a big neon sign out of a flamboyant redlight district, and B- I'm not sure how it'll look if you change the background color, since you left a lot of space between some of your lines. Oh, well, I'm sure you'll at least fix the second one (I'm assuming the first is a style thing, so go for whatever you like!).

I'm more interested in this pic than others because not only does it look great so far, but I'm aslo doing a creature concept, and I think it could be helpful to see them develop alongside eachother. Hm... if I wanna do that, i better get started! Well, good luck, anyway!

if you can mix the neonish green with the purple that would look really good ... besides that you have a fine scarry creature

I think C would look really good in the right enviroment but D looks like your best bet to me.

Hey, Dementist! I'm glad you like the effect, although it IS feeling a little sketchy to me... even if that's NOT what you were trying to communicate (I appreciate the clarification, by the way).
As for the hopped-up neon colours... Yeah, I know they're a little much. I'm not used to using colour, and this'll probably be a somewhat awkward piece because of it.
You'll certainly see more subtle colouring in future images, if not this one.:nana
I love nana.
As for the concern about space between the lines... you're correct that changing the background colour would alter other areas, but that shouldn't be problematic 'cause I'm pretty much painting this like you would on a canvas - any background will be painted IN in the appropriate areas, leaving the creature unaffected.
I'm glad you like this start, Dementist, and I'm happy for this dialogue!
:chug: I'll keep an eye out for your creature, then I can give you a hard time;) .Hyper_Psycho, Juice5942, and Killer Napkins thank you all for your comments!
OK, back to work!
