I had to work on my industrial design portfolio last week end so that it could be finally ready and I did these concepts

I know it s not nearly related to concept art but I was happy with the result

this whole workshop inspired me to a level I cant even start to understand myself yet...

I cant wait to try other things I learned there...

Its still a work in progress, the pose is a bit weird I know, if someone could point out other things, I would like the input =)

Here's another robot I did today

these things are fun to do.

I know the chest part isnt fitting with the rest but I m working on unifying what I'm working on...

Wow Man real nice clean lines and a pritty solid design. all you have to do is simplafie some of the shapes in the chest.

Andy P
June 15th, 2006, 08:38 PM
Yeah man, that last one is really happenin. I agree the chest could use some simplifying, and maybe and maybe a bit more dynamic pose would suit him better. The one right before it had a nice "bring it on" pose goin on. Keep this stuff up.

June 15th, 2006, 09:10 PM
thanks WaffleHouseNinja

Andy P - thanks.. I m hardly starting to understand dynamic figure drawing on regular human poses hehehe I m still having a lot of trouble doing the legs so that it really looks like it s standing on the ground

Zweit - thanks you, those 2 last ones are my most recent things

June 15th, 2006, 09:25 PM
Those are some fantastic robots and guns, I was going to ask if you were considering industrial design but you're already doing it :blah:. Great work, keep up the human practice.

Wassup man, nice to hear from you , keep up working and yea u have nice neat reds. You should also pay attention to your eyes when you draw faces....the corner of the eye is aligned with the end of the nostrile .....chek out some anatomy books.Brune Hogard as a reference..laters

Simon.Rain
June 20th, 2006, 03:55 PM
Nixon - thanks, did you ever work as an industrial designer or you got to do videogames straight after your degree ?

Deltron05 - I have the Burne Hogarth dynamic figure drawing which I m reading right now, but thanks for pointing this out =) I ll check it out for sure

As for today's update, I got this really nice book (not even 10$) about some of Thailand's most beautiful resort... amazing book for refferences it s only pictures so it got inspired

Mr.Blond - Thanks, I m trying as hard as I can on these figure drawing studies =)

As for today's update, this is my entry for the IDoW

I might play with the colors cause I find them pretty bland and boring, I m having a hard time making a scene look dynamic and interesting...

Creative stuff, good skill in execution. The last one needs a much broader range of values.

That's what I'm gonna try to to do, thanks =)

As for the update today

I have retarded bugs and creatures. Also some castle and small buildings but on some, the perspective is a bit off only because I wasnt planing wha I was doing... If you see some MAJOR errors, I ll be glad for you to point them out =)

Really cool stuff here! :)
The faces could use some more work (maybe do some more studies?) but everything else is looking very good. I specially like how clean your approach to architecture drawing is.

Keep posting!

I like the ships, however, if you ever draw ships again, remember that the masts are often higher than the ship is long.

Hey Simon,
it was great hanging with you at the montreal workshop. Glad to see that you're posting up here as well. It looks like you are loosening up and really exploring new options. keep cranking! I've been busy with work so haven't posted much lately. Still trying to add to my sketchbook page now and again, but haven't found time to really pull something nice together.

any news on the job front?

Baron

the scene on the left was inspired by that movie "Downfall" which is the last days of Hitler in his bunker

and the old lady wasinspired by a homeless woman I saw next to a bank ATM
