Hey people,

i could have discussed this with the other admins but i just feel like asking everyone who participates on this forum, because it will show the thoughts of the persons who actually use this platform...

Sometimes i asked myself if sorting the forums after genres would be better?!
Sections like "creatures", "portraits", "environments", "characters", "vehicles" etc etc etc

It would be much more effective and bringing better results for members when searching for certain subjects...

Finally Finished could be EVERYTHING, just finished...i rarely visit this section, because my only chance of measuring what could be inside is the thread topic...a pretty vague method of looking through a forum...sometimes there are like 30+ new threads in this section each day...i rather stick to the sections i know about the content...

So...what do you think of sorting the forums by genres like i mentioned??? (we still could do a subforum in each section dividing artwork in finished and wips etc)

the categories overlap wayyyy too much, we dont just cater to character and creature and vehicle designs, what if you havea piece that has ALL of those things in it where does it go then?!
Take a look around and tell me how many pieces currently in FF would fit into just one of those categories. One i can think of is hawkpreys recent thread. does that mean he needs to make six diffrent threads all in diffrent forums? seems really impractacl to me, and not worth the type of work involved because you think it may be easier to find something search wise.
And i think it would devide the work too much. I think we should leave it as is. So you have to browse 30 odd forums of various bits of mis matched artwork that are all in the wrong sections? Unlike you i visit finally finished every day, because even if i dont know the exact topic, i rarily care if (gods forbid) its not a vehicle and i was hoping to see one. I think far too much excellent work would not get the exposure it deserves, and finnally finshed is also the forum i visit most often.

If anything attach some kind of meta tag, like on flickr that you can tag as "this thread has vehicles in it" and "this thread has an environment in it" something like that would acctually make sense :yayca:

I voted for the current system, I think we have a lot of genre-specific content in the weekly activities.

Maybe the weekly activities could have some way of showcasing works from other sections, or have links to works in other sections?

So, Fozzy wants to split everything up, Mario wants to smoosh everything together.

personally, i think the forums are fine the way they are. Mario's layout is good, although all the stuff in the ARTWORK section shouldn't be lumped together like that. In fact, everything artwork related should be up front, and other stuff is what should be lumped into sub-forums

i love change, but definitely vote for current system. i love how we have sketchbook section and finlly finished and wip - and get to see nicked girlies riding their vehicles through a crazy environment while being chased by a fucked up creature that wants to have his portrait drawn by her.

I also like the current system - I like seeing different stuff in the finished section. I think splintering it would cause more problems than it's worth.

Hola Foz,

I voted to keep things as is, but I see a lot of value in what you proposed. I could see sub-catagories under each section. I assume a lot by presuming what you are thinking, but I think you enjoy the format of the Weeklies. I like it too; when I want to see characters...I can, when I want to see creatures...I can, when I want to see the most random creative madness...I can.

You can subdivide almost every catagory...don't know if that's better or not, people are naturally resistive to change, so I voted to keep it as is.

It's never a bad idea to shake things up and ask for opinions Foz.

yeah, i was aiming for a better overview of artwork as you say...

And i was curious how other members feel about it...but it seems that the current system is preferred for now :)

well, just trying to get thoughts and opinions from everyone...

btw i like this idea, it gives you a idea of what to expect for the certain thread...even if everyone will check the "nudity" option to get as many views as possible, hehe...:)

I just want to see a big, stand alone FAQ section.

Oh, and a sell your stuff / trade your stuff with other users would be kickass, too.

speakin of 3.0 when will it be finished. I remember a while back when the community site up there was talk of things being in place real soon. Maybe i was mistaken. I was just curious
