Alrigth, I wan't to start off with a little introduction so you know why I have the photos I have. First off, This is my first time using a camera for shooting, well, anything. The last time I took a picture must have been years ago. I was assigned a project to shoot about 20 different elements of photography in the course of about two hours. Most don't differ that much from one another, but then again, this wasn't the best place and best day to shoot. I had a Nikon 55, film, and no specific lens (ex. macro) to work with.

These are all scans from photos that my teacher just developed a few days ago so any white specks or something similar is not my fault. These are exactly how they appear on the photos, there were no Photoshop adjustments done except for nesessary cropping. Other than that, please say what you want, I would love to hear it. This session was fun, I hope to do more in the future.

These are in no particular order, they all just have a title that explains what I shot for what element. And if it affects anyone, I'm sorry for the big load.

Yea, motion blur is great! How did you achieve that "Weather" photo? I have never seen anything like that with my naked eyes!
I also liked the categorization of every photo.. it seems you thought about the shot before you took it. That is the way to go.

Alucard-

Thank you, I would like to get a camera (the Nikon 55 was really nice) so I don't stop.

claudeEGYPT-

Thanks a lot. Even though I only had two hours, I did try to think about each picture for about a little bit and try to find new angles, etc... As for the weather, :^^;:

very cool load, gamerhomie! motion blur is my favourite, too, but i also like "man made framing" a lot. i always find it hard to get the crispness to the scan and don't loose the middle values. that's why i tried scanning the negatives and it works a lot better, i think...
anyway, you've got a good eye for motives, so keep posting. :)

Some great pictures. But I noticed in your 'people' pictures, your focus seems to be behind the people, especially on 'faces' i believe. You have the background in focus, rather than the people sitting down.

well you got talent.
but your pictures need more contrast, objects
interesting events.
i only see allot of forest in your pictures

Thanks. Until I get a camera or am in another project, I won't have anything to post.

gazamc
Yeah, I noticed that too, I screwed up with the focus on a few of them.

Barret_wallace
Thank you, and you're right, my pictures are pretty boring. But I tried to make them as interesting as possible. It was just a regular park with a 2 hour limit.

guarddog
Thank you.

Reflections and motion blur are the only ones that do anything for me (they are very good). Those two have a gripping quality, whereas your other photos don't seem to draw me in.

Can you help me out and say why the others do not have that something while the two mentioned do? I'm just curious.

DOF on your "Motion Blur"
Also that column that sort of draws your eyes to the end..
Diagonals help a lot.. believe me.

Your second one with the reflections, well, maybe its more of the content that is attracting people, its a good reflection of a pretty place :D

I'm sure others will have their reasons too, but those are the main reasons.

claude got it spot on, the leading line in "motion blur" combined with the beautiful scene and the barbed wire keep my attention. Again as claude said, it's the content for "reflections". Your other photos lack the control you showed in these two. Remember, when there are "too many" places of interest in a photo it detracts from the image as a whole.

Thank you everyone. If I get ahold of a camera one day, I'll make sure to take more time and have more control over what I shoot.
