I'm starting this so I can begin to get a bit more focused with my drawing, as I need to get into a routine of drawing all the time and keep drawing! I've taken a leaf out of a few peoples book and this should help me start.

I'm adding some sketches of something thats in another thread - the pyramid / building i'm working on, so you might've seen a few of the later ones. Ive included some earlier sketches though..

Hope you like.

Idea of pyramids popped into my little brain:

ohhh dear me O my, I'm the first one to post in your S-b! : D *stabs flag into ground* ai ai haha. Nice book dude!

well, rightoff I can tell that perspective and buildings seem to be a strong point for you, there's not much I can crit because there's not a whole lot of variation, and I cant tell that anythings wrong withem. : D perhaps try some different building types, with curves perhaps? It doesent hurt to try to expand ones style. : ) love to see more!

keep rockin and a rollin.

Hey thanks Halos Chain,
You're right - its not very varied at the mo, which I plan to overcome. Lately I've had solid intentions to just do sketching non-stop, but things just get in the way and occupy far too much time. Can anybody relate? I guess I need to figure out my priorities, which should be ART!!!! (But at the mo, its cash....)
Heres a couple more sketches/doodles from a little while ago, NOT buildings... :P

PS Apologies for the poor images, Im using a borrowed digicam. Anyone want to give me a scanner? he he

A Heath Robinson styled airship design (without balloon, and perfectly balanced!!)

'ey there!

The architectural drawings looks good, they are simple but they have
growing potential in them. Add more stuff to them; shadings, environment
and more colors. Just a suggestion of my own ;) .

The mechanical ship looks nice too, I ought to expect more of same kind
of stuff from you later on as well, they have good potential I see.

Keep them gnomish contraptions coming ;) , mwahah.
Going to keep an eye upon this thread.

Another addition: This is also from another thread of mine, a weapon design. fter consulting the wiki on here and looking at the Anime styled guns, it inspired me to look at the grip on the handle more. Just doodles, experimenting with cool shapes etc. More will be added as I've only just stopped drooling at the anime site and picked up my pen...

Oh, and a (seriously rough!) attempt at a comic book style scene of a missile coming in through dense city skyscrapers. One crit I've just seen is the missile could be closer to show more detail - as it is the focal point!

Perspective... and practice with shadows. Hate doing them - I have a mental block when it comes down to these suckers. Trying basic shadows from lightsource being directly above - starting simple so I can build on it

Off to a good start, Pippin! If you don't mind a few words of advice, here are some things I've learned over the past few months that might help you. For this kind of design work, you could only benefit from developing a thumbnailing habit, particularly for objects and vehicles. I've learned the hard way that it's better to get thirty or forty variations on a theme down on a page quickly than to try for the best three or four right out of the gate. In the long run, I believe you'll learn more, see more results in a shorter amount of time, and feel more creatively flexible. And don't get too attached to that ruler! Or forced perspectives! Both will just slow you down at the moment. Keep it coming!

A reasonably quick render of a minigun barrel assembly in PS - I know some of the edges are crappy, but this is one of the first real things that I sat down to do, and I'm sure I didn't do things correctly. What I mean is I cheated at a lot of things by using the skew and bevel features etc etc, as you can probably tell! Not bad though, I think. How about you?
