Published writer with connections seeking a talented manga artist to collaborate on a project proposal. This is a self-contained graphic novel in the tradition of Miyazaki's Nausicaa (but that's where any similarity ends).

The plan is to pitch the usual suspects like Tokyopop, Viz, etc. But also to some indy companies looking to enter the manga field, and a new well-financed manga publisher that is actively seeking original projects (and with whom I have contact).

For the right artist (someone talented, mature, reliable, and committed) this will mean sharing ownership in the property and of course royalties from any future merchandising or film.

We're only talking a commitment of 8-10 pages and a few color pieces to put together an impressive proposal. (Typical manga-ka do 70-100 pages per month! So this should be nothing for a dedicated artist in need of a great story).

Even if nothing develops from traditional avenues, self-publishing is a serious secondary option.

OKay, make that 20-pages of sequential artwork.

I just spoke with a very large manga/book publisher who expressed real interest in the concept. But obviously he has to see illustrated pages (preferably 20) before making any decisions. This is a major publisher whose books you can find in every store in the country

ARTISTS: If you're really serious about making it in comics/manga you have to do some work first. This could be the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity that turns you from the unknown wannabe to the guy or girl signing autographs at the big conventions. But you have to FOLLOW THROUGH and not lose focus (talent isn't enough, you have to have an equal dose of commitment).

If you have what it takes...
