I figure it's about time I post some actual artwork in this place. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

A couple of figure drawings to start (these particular ones were done from photo reference):

the torso in the second drawing looks a little short. Perhaps a little better perspective to show that it is going in toward the waist?

The last hand is my favorite- I like the tendons.

Keep it up!

hey man
great work!
i really like the preview shot of the self portrait. the eye looks amazingly real.
the hands are also really great. i could never get the little tendons sticking out correct.

Wow! Great drawings, Brumfield. The eyes are my favorite. Looks like you took a lot of time to do each one. Which is great. Keep it up.

Thanks for the replies everybody. :)

voraz: Thanks. Will do.

lesedi: Yeah, I know what you mean. I think it's more of a shading problem than anything, which throws off the foreshortening of his back a little. I might go back and work on it some more later, but I'm moving on for now.

monotony: Thanks. I spent like 3 hours on just the hair. Very tedious. :D I'll definately be finishing it, but I just want to get some other stuff knocked out before I go back to it.

annisahmad: Thanks a lot. The eye is my favorite part. I spent so much time on that eye I'm almost afraid to keep going out of fear that the rest of the drawing won't be up to par.

noiion: Thanks a lot.

Another figure drawing (from reference, from "Anatomy for the Artist", which is also where I got the reference for the previous figure drawings):

And another hand:

oo! I like these! The head matches the body really well, and I know how hard that is. The only crit I have is that the shading could match better and the hair could be more realistic. But that is a nit-picky crit, right? You did a fabulous job on it. I know how long it takes you. kudos.

Wonderful contrast in the hand. Good work!

hey cool studies.....the last one has good anatomy and structure...i think the neck is going just a bit flat though. I also like the eye from your SP. A good thing to include in your portfolio are a couple pages of 1-7 min figure sketches/gesture. From what I've seen.....you don't need to have too many fully rendered out poses.....I had 3 that didn't look as finished as yours. Also the admissions people prefer to see drawings from life and they are usually pretty nice about setting up appointments for you to bring your portfolio in and review it with them before you apply.

I can't believe I've neglected this thread for so long. Here's some random newer stuff. Nothing special, I'm afraid, but hopefully I'll have some better stuff to show soon.

Yeah, you abandoned this thread for quite a long time, but hey, I joined CA in 2004 but started posting just few months ago so, no big deal.
I hope to see more of your work soon!
