This took me about 10 houres. It's done with a mouse so the hair and details were really difficult and I will work more on this when I get a tablet. Crits are appreciated, it really helped me out on my first painting i posted here. How are the colors, blending, shadows etc.? (I made two versions of this)

The eyes seem abit empty and flat and also seems to be missing an iris.
I like it alot though, and honestly I find it hard to belive it's done with a mouse, but honestly the second version, stay away from filters like that they just kill all the hard work gone into the picture.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the crits. it is done with a mouse, trust me :) I see what you mean with the eyes, I will work on that. The second image is actually a brush, but you are right, it doesen't look too good just wanted to try.

I dunno. I kinda like the second version - or I would, if the effect wasn't so overpronounced. Gives it a sort of grave-painting feel to it though and you might not want that. :)
I like the painting - I might lighten her lips up a touch so she doesn't look like she's wearing lipstick, and I might add a teensy bit of color to the end of her nose. The highlight on her chin might extend a bit more to the right than it does at the moment. Other than that, I think I'd feather the eyebrows a bit so they're not so solid and do the same to the hairline so it doesn't look like a helmet. Very nice colors though - very nice painting overall.

I can believe it was painted with the mouse- There are certain brush stroke subtleties that signify it-

But yes, as Nikita had said, perhaps avoid the Filters.

I applause your patience. It's hard to do the finer details with a mouse. You can use the blob and erase methods thou, just need to use more layers. Just paint with the mouse, and then erase the exassive parts to get the edges you wanted. It's easier to use this methods to control line quality with mouse than trying to get a perfect edge freehand.

I like the textured version, it adds to an old painting feel. I think she still need a lot more detailed features on her face to feel more lively.

Right now she looks like a good doll to me. Her lips are way too flat for a person, it needs different planes. Her face can use some subtle highlights to show her bone and facial structure.
Her ear is overly simplified, you need a reference for the ear unless you are going for some stylized and more cartoony figure. Then such simplicity is better appreciated.
Her eye brow is way too strong in shape, perhaps you can tone it down a bit, and add some hair stroke or texture to feel more natural and hair like, instead of a harsh highliner.

You have handled her fabrics well with more accurate details, I hope you catch up with her face on it. A child is hard to paint, because their features are more subtle.

Skin reflects different colouration depending on what it is 'covering'. Anything close to the bone has a blue/green tinge, ex. around the eye area and in the shadows. This affect sometimes occurs in the forehead area as well. Cheeks and fleshy areas are more opaque with a 'blush' hue. Lips are usually a few shades darker than cheeks. At present, your lips look as if lipstick was applied. It need not be so opaque. Colouration of lips is darker on top and fuller on lower lip. Try adding more 'volume' in the lips itself. It's okay if the colours from skin area blend into the lip area. Especially on upper lips. If you enjoy painting faces, take a look at some of the portraits from the old masters. Many of them were painted with cool tone underpaintings. Also, research the main muscle groups in the face especially the eyes as they are the most expressive features on the face. Study how the eye works. Eyeballs are spheres/rounded/contoured. At the moment, your right eye looks flat against the face. Your painting is beautiful though! What an excellent start.....especially since you did it with a mouse. Most impressive. BRAVO.
