what do you think about photo ref's as a an option for anathomy studies. I know that life drawing is better but I can't take those at the moment. Would be nice to hear some serious thoughts on this.. Let's say that way: can I grasp anatomy only with photo ref's, anatomy books, pencil and paper? :blah:

You can gain a basic understanding of anatomy without use of a model. A model really helps a lot more with pose, dynamics, balance etc, than the knowledge of anatomy (though it does help put all that anatomy knowledge to use, and makes you 'put it all together' so to speak). Photographs will definately help you improve. However, nothing speeds up your progress more than drawing from a live model. Even if you can't attend classes or sessions or whatnot, just have friends pose for you for a couple minutes, or draw people sitting around.
