hope this thread is in the right section.
in my freetime i spended a little time on the streets of hamburg to draw some of the things i have seen.
until now only buildings, but i hope soon to draw some of the cool reeperbahn-stuff, like drunken people and women that sells "youknow"...

Glaub, is besser wen ich wieder auf English schalte, sonst fühlen sich die anderen Ca'ler ausgeschlossen:
I aint am studying in Hamburg yet. Stil have 2 month of highscool left (Gymnasium). Am going to apply at HAW for Illustration though.
Last one's nice. Like the mood. If you did it from Life that would totally stun me.
Tried to open your userprofile, but there's a bug that won't let me do so. Will have to bypass that.
Are you attending any scool here?
So long...
Edit: Bei deinem Benutzerprofil kann ich nichts finden.....

Nice sketches. I like the city sketches most. With the girl, her head looks a bit big, but i do that all the time myself. Draw the head ... put in the features ... and it's either too big or too small.
Blacky, just google for "benem" and you'll find his page.

Thanks john o. found his site.
Quite some decent stuff, even with some real cool ideas behind some of em.
The sink you drew on one of those reminds me of those they have at Ahmgardstrasse. Lifedrwings remind me of what I saw there too. Coincidence?

No, I haven't seen the years-exhibition. I wish I had but I didn't know about it. I only go there on Tuesdays (used to be Thursdays), to attend livedrawing sessions.
Will there be any other Exhibitions in near future?
I heard the scool was supposed to be rather good, would like to hear your oppinion about it.
Oh, and when is it that you are going to update...Mr.?

best ask the people you meet at lifedrawing. the next exibition is at the and of the semester. what will be in about kind of 4 weeks i think.
the school is nice, but don´t expect an real education, its more like 4 years longer childhood.

FH Münster is supposed to be good as well. Along with the HAW they are pretty much supposed to be the best education you can get in illustration in germany.
Whether or not that is true, on the other hand ... i have no idea.

I was hoping you would handle that thread as some sort of scetchbook, to show your Hamburg-Impressions, you say you’re doing occasionaly.
I like em and am glad that somebody posts Artwork on Hamburg and the Reeperbahn on here too. That’s why I was hoping for an update.
In case you might not be interested in posting anything in here any longer and if you don’t mind, I could post some Hamburgscetches of mine on here too.
4 years of Childhood more, sounds nice, but actually I was hoping for some drive for improvement too. Guess I’ll have to study of scool quite a lot if I want to get a decent job later on. Luckily enough I know some twin brothers that started from this semester on, they’re quite good and what is more emportant, have enjoyed the finest arteducation one might wish so far. So I hope to learn from them some too as soon as I (hopefully) will attend the scool.
I don’t know if it’s adequate to steer of topic like that in that thread and to go on your nerves like that with all those questions, but I’d like to know about your Portfoliopreparation expiriences and if it was hard to get accepted by the scool. I wouldn’t blöame you if you don’t reply on that though.
John o. that was something I had heard too. Hope its true and getting accepted won’t be too hard.
Ciao

i think that is an good idea to make this thread specially for hamburg scetches from all, please post your pictures, i will post more of mine sometimes.
the good thing about this school is to get contact to other peoples that are into many projekts and real active, the school and the stuff you learn here is not important, everything i know about computers i learn in the holidays by myself.
the portfolio thing was realy hard. it realy is better to go to a preparation course before. there are about 600 people and 80 are about to get in.
at last here are some older scetches:

You´ve got very nice cityscapes. I think it´s very important to train to draw what you see. I always used to say, that I don´t wanna draw things that already exist. But now I´ve realised that there is also beauty in the everyday things of our lives. Just gotta find it.
Hehe, it´s cool that you went to the nightclub in order to draw (?). I wouldn´t have the guts for that, I´m shy :tihi:

One thing i heard about HAW is that you can rent cheap atelier space when you're studying illustration. Learning from others and on your own is the most important thing in germany i think. I think other schools are good as well, like Essen, Kassel, München etc.
Btw., i'm 24, not studying and hope to study art at some hazy distant point in the future. Don't take that route :teeth:
Edit, Benem, those sketches look very nice, i like the sketchiness. Just very different from what's in your portolio.

Nice updates, enjoy the detail and motive of em. First one gives a good impression of the city. Some marker lines appear quite harsh to me though, specially the ones in the sky on last one.
Thanks a ton for the information. The relation of 600 to 80, is actually good news. Cuz I thought it was like 700 to 30. lol
Am quite optimistic though, as I do tacke private Portfoliosclasses. I might think different if I had a clue about how good the other contestants might be, though. The only ones I know in person that go there, are those twins and they received a grade of 1.9 and 2.0.
Thank you too, john o. , for the info. Good luck, I hope it works out for you still.

@jonny: the ladys like artists.
@john o. I hav an atelier there, its boring to work at home. because the school will move to an new build there was a lot of atelier space for free in the last time. but now its full.
@blacky: these are nice pictures. I would hate to paint at the harbour anniversary. the drunken crowd there would get on my nerves. this time there were 1.5 million people. I live directly at the harbour and I could see the traffic coplapsing. that was fun.
@vinc: do so. I´m preparing an internet presentation to show to galerists, because I want to do an exibition and searching an gallery. I will post that soon.
this picture shows the chinarestaurant in front of the school. the first time that I used an pencil before inking. its a little cleaner now.

Hey, I know thaw restaurant. It's called Golden Gate or sth. Awsemome place to eat at.
I like it.
You captured it realy, realy well. Although I'm not sure if it's broaghter at top, for real.
Clear and clean executed in comparisson to your previous ones. Seems like the prescetching with pencil paid of. Although previous ones are naturally more vivid and loose. Nice detail. I hink though, that restaraunt blends too much into neighbouring houses. Perhaps a realy slight washover on sides could have made it more focused.
I might post some scetches too, but only in about a week or two.
So long....

Food is splendid. I heard there where one or two Chinese Restaurants in Hamburg that might be considered better, but I thought, this one was the best I had been to in Hamburg so far. The guests are mostly chinese too.
I liked the things displayed at your exhibition, specially one of the last digis. Interesting text too. Sort of confusing though. (Is it part of a diary?)
And why is narrator a she and why are there 2 other artists mentioned at headpage? I thought, these where al yours.
Anyways
good luck.

thx john.
@blacky:
when the other guests are mostly chinese, than it means that they got the real chinese food, like chicken-leg-salad(and i don´t mean chicken-wing), duck-togue-soup and stuff...
this is part of my diplom, what will be kind of a diary.
who is narrator?
there are two other artists mentioned, because we want to make an group-exibition. the drawings online are from dragan and me. matthias finished nothing until know.
