HEY! these are really great. Most of all they have great potiental. Personally i would like to know if u ever use books (Loomis, Hogarth, etc...) or are u just drawing and making your own observations? And im just going to assume you use refs on those figs.

joiton
April 26th, 2006, 05:54 PM
Thanks for posting RenegadePogo. I've used one of the Loomis books for studing muscles and perspective mostly (I still look it from time to time). The Hogarth I've only seen it a couple of times. And as you said, I try to make my own observations to find the easiest way for me to draw, and don't use the Loomis way or Hogarth or anybody.
And yes you guessed, there are all from ref.
Thanks again :)

And now the little stuff from today. Landscapes and some shape studies

Lazynes weekend has end :P So here is some new stuff:D
I did some color tests mixing every basic colors with each others (orgy yay!!) (rgb + cym) and then put them into grays to see the values interaction.
I dont know if its going to be very useful realy... but I think it will help me a bit as a reference to try different color mixes in my paintings, as I often tend to chose the same ones.

Well, here they are

Thanks for the comments guys, are realy appreciated.

This time I've been doing some flower studies (from photo), and cheked how much time it taked to do each one (you can see it in the pic). And find out how reeealy slooooooooow I am :S

Also been doing some creature design. Its suposed to be a specie that live for centuries. And wanted to give him a slow, old and heavy look. Not finished yet.

hey man, really nice studies, reminds me a lot of gaboartpage.

Keep up the hard work.

Yes, yesterday lazzines get in my veins...
BUT only for posting. I've been doing some stuff actualy :D
Cars, dificult stuff I must say. As I used to draw organic stuff, industrial and city landscape gets pretty hard for me :S
You know C&C allways welcome :)

Now back to the nice people who passed around here.

Thanks Diego:) what you said about Gaboart is a compliment for me :D even when I'm aware I not even near him in effort and perseverance he puts on drawing. He is such an inspiration!
And yes Im trying to cover all the fields of cooncept design. A reason is to have the skills to make a decent concept (at least) in every field. Being able to make a concept about anything. And other is that I think if I go out a little of my box, my character an creature designs (the stuff I like the most to draw) will be more rich. (I hope :S)

Ok, now finally the paper stuff:
some faces from the weekend(beware the first one. Is vomitive). trying to find a nice head estructure (I tend to dislike the super measured and precises ones) (the bottom line is from mind)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Joiton/Carne006.jpg

and the cars. as in pretty much everething (and even more in architecture and machines) still can't get the proportins right...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Joiton/Industrial_001.jpg

Thanks again,
Cheers!

Hey! Im gonna be fighting you on the TD!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Joiton/Carne008.jpg
sigue posteando tus imagenes, y yo te siguire mandando criticas

joiton
May 28th, 2006, 02:51 PM
Maxetormer! haha, that is going to be fun!
And thakyou a lot for the crits.
Me encantan tus trbajos tambien. Geniales autoretratos :D

I like your architectural perspective studies, your bugs and animals and the subtractive shape synthesis experiments. You're gaining better control of face shapes as evinced by your 2nd last post.

This is probably the most quirky and good stuff I've seen for a long time. Awsome character sketches, loadss of personality and very nice enviroments. You are really a complete artist. Only thing I wish to comment on is the color sketches. Take some time with it and render it a tad more carefully.

Have five shiny ones, your style is unique and I hope that you will keep pushing it!

this time I tried to only use simple shapes (triangles, squares and such..)
this way I force my self to get really simple on the construction..

and some ilumination practice with one of those thumbs,
trying different light sources

Hey again,

wanted to pass this along...

http://www.youtube.com/user/sheldonsartacademy

you do a lot of mini figure studies so I thought these videos might assist you, just check them out, there only 2/3 min each but very informative and well worth placing some effort into.

Ok here I drop some more studies in the same line,
This time analyzing ilumination on diferent photos..

Buckster: thanks for your words :)

marioucci: haha you are right! but I have to say that after checking your stuff I realize Im not the only crazy boy here XD

Ja!

Pero here is a little surprise, an ilustration of Marias Sister :)
I started this with the goal of finishing it on 2 days of work,
Keeping on the geting faster practices road.
For now Ive worked it only one day (like 6 hours)
and whenever I get some free time Ill finishit.

Hope you like it!

Very nice man. The rendering of the last piece is ace. Very nice and clean. Try to throw in some darker colours as well to raise the contrast. Not that you need to, it would just be fun to see what it would do to this piece^^

Killer work man, I am impressed

Hi he ha!
Long time yeah..

Thanks to all for the comments, very kind indded

Brillante!

The nose in the first portrait looks a little too small, and the top lip by her cupid's bow is too sharp on Kristen Stewarts portrait. But red head guy is looking great. That picture has always frightened me. Always refresh the page when it shows up. xD

That is a REALLY neat motorcycle design. ♥
