"Is that a banana o are you just happy to see me?"

XD, nice.

The lighting is very typical-!! I mean that in a good way, Like, it is done well and in a casual setting... maybe typical isn't the best word, I guess... what's the word.... whatever.

Some of the shading on her jeans looks off, and the couch seems it bit out of perspective; Or you jsut need more depth behind the man's leg.

Tighten this baby up!

The man's expression is terrifying. It looks like he's mentally challenged, and yelling at the girl, rather than laughing jovially, which I assume was the intent. It's mostly in the mouth, but his eyes don't look like those of a laughing person, either.

His foot lacks something. It isn't shaped properly; looks deflated. I think it needs a little more bulk on the top.

The way the man is sitting is also a little odd. The positioning of his legs make it look awkward and uncomfortable, like he'd be precisely balancing himself to remain like that. I think it'd look a lot more solid if he just put his left leg on the couch.

That being said, the girl looks very nice. Her expression and pose work very well.

It's a solid piece overall. After some minor tweaks, it'll be golden.

this is a weird picture, ken.
well done, but weird.

regardless...
the wallpaper is hurting the piece.
its way too flat.
notice the subtle perspective to the sofa,
the wall paper should match that and begin to taper on our right side.
also, its VERY sharp edged.
blur it out a little so it doesnt compete so much.

a gradient or two to indicate the light on the wall would help a lot too.

I assume both by the banana, and the pose of him and his hand, that the intention was for him to be "Ape-ish", right?

Otherwise, yeah, expression might want to be differed, but if the former was the intention, you nailed it pretty well.

Agreed with the wallpaper. Try a less intricate design maybe?

hey guys thanks for the crits I just wanted to respond so It doesnt seem like Im ignoring them. Yes I wanted him to seem some what retarded and just goofy. wasnt suppoused to be him laughing.

im gonna work on the perspective stuff, but im curious why people dont read it just as the couch just isnt squarely against the wall?

ill post a rework on the wall within the week.. so many finals.. god.

I think it's because where the back of the seat cushion is is set too high. It doesn't match the perspective of the girl. I'll try an OP, just a sec.

Note where her butt is. Usually people like to sit in the back of the sofa, so you assum that where her butt meets the seat=the back of the cushion. But then it pops out a few inches higher on the other side, and your eyes are all "WTF????" so you gotta keep it consistent... I did the best I could in a few minutes.... hope I could help. (Also adjusted man's foot anatomy :o)

EDIT:

My paintover still isn't good enough, but I would have needed the original. You gotta move the girl up a bit, and bring the couch horizon down a bit... meet them halfway or something.

It's because the lines of the couch back and cushions are skewed relative to the horizontal, so we assume we are seeing them from an angle.

I'd 'split' if I were her.
