Hi folks, I've joined this site for half a year now and this is my first post, hope I can learn more from all the various backgrounds here. I'm currently working on several independant freelance projects on the side while Iam currently a graduating art student studying game art and design to become a 3d environment artist...I don;t have many current works to post so I will start off with one of my old stuff.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/pliang/basilica.jpg This was an old piece of environment concept for an animator that I met.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/pliang/mines.jpg One of my usual sketches, takes average of 30 mins to do....any ideas?

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/pliang/traindepot.jpg A sci-fi scene of a domes city tram station that I thought of...you guyz prolly know more about perspective use and aesthetics...I think one of my problems is that I don;t use a ruler too often...

hi and welcome! that's a cool start for your book! :) like your enviroments a lot, especially the second one. one thing i noticed is that because of the small range of values and line quality it's hard to focus on a special point and sometimes a little hard to read the depth of the sketch...
have you ever thought about coloring those sketches (with markers or digitally...)? looking forward to see more! cheers,

stine

I'll join in with my SSG buddy and bid you welcome to the forums. Cool to see enviros, hardly see them around here, so keep it up and you will excel. Welcome to boot camp:yayca: .

Thnx guyz, glad to get some really nice welcomes here...but replying to one of the posts is that I've considered to colour them but the problem is that I have no particular traditional painting bg so I will show an example to show what I mean, but that won't stop me.

Here's an example...

I don't know how to manage my brushstrokes well enough and mix color well enough so if you guyz could help me with that, that'd be awesome.
(I use a lot of dodge and burn and that's bad for making values)

And this pic was to be used a created conpet image for a 3D scene that I will have tailored for graduation portfolio (I attend a game design institute)

And here's a fluke that I did back in highschool, the colors are sort of blotched and light, only because my school department didn;t supply paint.

And besides environments, I'm not really big on character designs but I will be posting a couple as I go as well, just to get it out there.

Again, my paints don't have value or saturation in colors so it looks pretty flat.

Buzz lightyear...it was for a school assignment

This is a boiler room that I plan to use as a conceptual illustration for what I will 3D model for my game industry portfolio, I am currently trying to work on a tram station for a second scene as well.
