Hi All,

This should be interesting.

Wednesday, May 3rd at Society of Illustrators:

An Evening with Blue Sky Studios
Contemporary big studio animation is an amazing collaboration of diverse talents. One of the important cogs in the middle is the storyboard artist. Bill Frake is such an artist, as well as having diverse training in layout, staging and camera mechanics. He will explain how it's done at BLUE SKY STUDIOS in White Plains, New York from the use of pencil drawn character development through clay model making to digital photography and then the art of storyboarding. The Blue Sky Studio is a true team effort and has been an important new outlet for the creative mind of today's top illustrators including Peter deSève, Greg Couch and William Joyce. Among the many projects that Blue Sky Studios has developed are: Robots; Ice Age, Ice Age 2, and its trailer Scrat; as well as Gone Nutty, the Oscar animated short nominee. Bill also created storyboards at Walt Disney (Roger Rabbit, Pocahontas and Hercules) and Warner Bros. (Iron Giant). He has been involved in numerous Emmy winning projects personally receiving three for his work in the field. He also has a Clio to his name.

Not usually...but this lecture might be on the popular side. It mght be a good idea to call up and put your name on a list.

I'm not sure how much it costs...aybe $12.00? Arkady, do you know?

Angel was taking $10 on the 19th, but we were not given any real direction. Michael always has his head elsewhere and Joan was out of town this week. plus the only people that showed up were part of Dennis Dietricht's class, so Angel collected a total of $0.00

I'll find out on tuesday and let you all know.

I'm working the Art of Money lecture. Sadly, it doesn't really sound that interesting. but you never know.

The SciFi series would be interesting if you get that thing off the ground with your mad organizational skillz, Irene.
woops!!! it slipped. now you have to go and do it. :P

Curses, Arkady! :tihi:

Yeah...I was asked by our esteemed Lecture Series Chairman, Mr. Dennis Ditricht, to host a sci-fi night. Just one night, not a series.

I haven't thought it through yet (I was just asked last night) but it will be in the fall, probably around November. It'll either be a panel discussion, or an interview with one artist, or some such. Probably a panel discussion.

If I catch Arkady or Angel this saturday, or the following tuesday if saturdays weather sucks, I'll definetly make sure to get in on the attendee list for this. Anyone know what time this is going down exactly, as I might not be able to attend the whole thing.
