I'm pretty fascinated by autistic savants. It's amazing what the brain is capable of when it's wired a little differently.

This was drawn by a 3 year old autistic girl, from memory.

Also in this article a researcher talks about how he thinks it's possible to develop a machine or procedure that lets anyone access the parts of the brain that allows her to draw like that. Sounds improbable, but boy would that shake up the art world.
And another interesting link:

This autistic French man has spent 16 years creating an entire city called Urville in exacting detail. Pretty cool stuff.

Usually I'm a bit envious and stuff, of people like Akiane, who's crap sells for 80k. But for some reason, I am thinking "That's amazing. I hope the kid gets far".
VERY cool.

Oh wow, so awesome!
My uncle, who is about 45 or 50 now, was thought to be autistic. But, when they diagnosed him so many years ago, they were lacking in the knowledge about autism, and so he was put into a state mental institution where he still resides today. They fed him lots of drugs until his brain was mush. But, when he was a kid, before they put him away, my mom said he could do amazing mathmatical calculations. Would have been cool to know him back then.

Yeah that guy who made Urville is pretty amazing, he has a book out with a lot of his drawings in: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1843104199/sr=8-1/qid=1145126163/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-7692826-0723020?%5Fencoding=UTF8 I can't believe he remembers all the buildings names, and the streets. Amazing.
