I find it strange that CA has no concept art section but i'll just post it here. Crits welcome. More on the concept aspect then the art itself. But feel free to crit both.

neat faces - the pose of the ranger is cool - not sure how she is a ranger though.
The wand with the trigger and place for magic powder is a fresh idea (AFAIK) - and the chest is cool - maybe up the contrast, I had to make out alot of things -

I think your style is cool, you need to start pushing contrast, these pictures are so light that they are hard to read.

Neat stuff.
But as devious already mentioned I can't see why she's a ranger allthough pic is nice.
The alchemist looks really great. Perhaps you can show us some more?

I would say that in my opinion, a Concept Art section would be redundant since concept art is pretty much work in progress until a final version is approved. So, for the concept in progress, you have this section and once the final's done, you have the It's Finally Finished section. This _might_ be the explanation.
I like your sketches very much btw. Nice flow, interesting position and generally pleasant to look at. I'm curious about a final version of one of those. Talking from my own experience, I found that my sketches often end up being more interesting than the final. The sketches have a life of their own that can get lost once you start to add details or colors. Of course, sometimes, it's just he opposite. Heh.

I'd have to disagree with Tegehel. Concept Art is more than something your working on until your finished when it then becomes finalized. Concepts are just that, concepts. Regardless if it is a pencil sketch or fully rendered painting...
I pretty much see almost everything I do as conceptual...From my beginning sketches all the way to my finalized and tweeked 3D animations. Concept art isn't about how finished a work is or your technique, it is the idea which is driving your work.
Just my thoughts...

Ah well, then I think we're just discussing semantics. Perhaps I wasn't clear, but I agree with you, TacticallyWacked. Concepts are just abstract or generic ideas generalized from particular instances (cf. definition). What I was trying to explain is that we already have quite a few thread choices and that an extra one called just concepts would be redundant because concepts could very well be placed in other threads (such as work in progress, or doodles, or even finished).
In other words, based on my personal experience working in the game industry*, I've seen my share of concepts and indeed, they range from 30 seconds doodles, to really nice final paintings, so there's a quite a range. In this context, I'm sure one can find here an appropriate thread for any concept, at any stage, and this without the need to create yet another one.
voila, now let me hammer you with this neat little animation =)

Sorry. I guess I mistook your post.
Since I have your attention now I was wondering if you have any suggestions for me as far as getting into a game design company. I'm about to graduate at the end of the Summer with a BFA in 3D animation and I'll be getting my Demo reel together and working on one last project during the summer months.
My projects are focused on enviornment design and effects through Dynamic simulation. Any suggestions as how I should develop my reel? I constantly work in my sketch book to build my concepts and improve my art. I'm not to the level in traditional art as some around this forum but I'm always improving. I've been conceptualizing a fictional world for about 1 1/2 years and basing my concepts around it.
I guess I'm just wondering if you have any tips which might be helpfull...Thanks =)

The gamma setting on my computer is off so they seem fine, Ill change the gamma tonight when im done some more sketches. Inking should start on friday.
I would also be interested in any information Tegehel can share. These character designs ARE for a game. But a game between me and and a friend and 2 programmers. Ill be doing some sprite work when im done these and the Graphic interface for the game as well. I've taken on the project mostly to rework my rusting art skills.
Thanks for the kind praise and i'll do my best to keep updating this thread.

I think you should shade the figures/clothes more - or give the clothes different shade values to represent 'color' - and make the lines cleaner?
I do like them tho.

very nice work, the only thing i see is the contrast in the scans. seem a little too light, so details to read as well. maybe darken em up a bit in photoshop?
nice work! nhab!
