this is one that i drew from a picture from the net need to know what i have done wrong so i can correct it

The first thing you did wrong was use the smudge tool. Avoid it. It's eeevill.
Try doing a sketch before you paint, so you can get features and proportions in place. You've made her nack far too long and her nose is on a different plane to her eyes and mouth.
The background looks tacked on because there is no interaction with the figure.
I would take a step back and just try to sketch the complete picture first, before diving headlong into painting.

I looked at the pic and seen what was wrong with the background and fixed it some. changed the nose and neck. next one I will do a sketch on paper before I do another one. Thank you for your time and advice

The sky is way too blue desaturate it abit. Paint it on a separate layer with just the sky and ground, nothing fancy just the horizonand sky. You can always go back and add more later since its on its own layer. Start from scatch and do a loose sketch of it, then start blocking in your paint and establish your color palette, then the pose and proportions then detailing.
It will start to come together before you know it. Give it a try. I'd like to see the results.

i am now doing what you have suggested and it seems to be working. i can see what working in layers is handy for will try to do what you have said then ill post the out come ty again
