hell - if you don't know the movie, the title should do for you.
that's the problem with the redesigns - lots of us lack the reference.
I thought it's more popular in US.
Anyway - 3 kids - the good, the bad, the ugly. Each personality comes from the title. They are about to meet in this.. "movie"... when they grow up :) or something.

Ideally, if the movie was to be made with kids - it's them :)

Kids are hard... it should be interesting.

There's a good deal of the background characters showing, though probably not 3/4.

That would qualify as a headshot. There isn't enough of the main character showing.

thanks! it's 9mm blue pencil scanned and colorized to get a more western feel - blue wasn't cuttin' it there. then there are these fun brushes i'm using to get all battlestar scralatchica on (God bless Incubus for that song title) for the edges and whatnot. not sure how much more i will have time to do, but thanks for the comments!

Well that's ONE. I intend on having a nice line up of the three kids. I won't have time to finalize them unfortunatly, but more to come :$
(that's a real gun, by the way. he ain't playin' around).
The concept would be somewhere on the line of: " Three maps, three guns... "

just wanted to say that i think this round's topic wasnt really appropriate. The challenge of this activity is to use brainpower to think of a unique character - by giving us preestablished characters, and just telling us to make them younger... it kind of ruins the creative aspect of the topic. Mine is by no means fantastic in its sense of design, but i think characters where we can get really creative with costume etc... are better than redesigns.

Wasn't sure how to interpret the topic, so just designed kids (who are probably in their early teens) suitable for the roles, keeping the Western setting etc. I haven't actually seen the movie so I'm not sure how they interact, but anyway...

for me at least, those white outlines are flattening the characters. Can we see a version without?

Hmm seems as if the majority are taking the Western approach, something very close in keeping with the movie. Im not sure if Oblio made it a requirement that they be child versions of the movie characters and if he did that would seriously limit the fun of this project (might account for the lack of interest). Personally when I saw this topic I said awesome a project where you design 3 characters one good, one evil, and one ugly but in child form. Visions of the most heinous little rugrats coupled with angelic younglings floated through my mind and I looked forward to the mighty wave of entries. But I think alot of people assumed it had to be Clint Eastwood and crew as children, a waste of a good CHoW only because it wasnt explained well enough. The stuff submitted thus far is good though, I really enjoyed yours QSeptember5. Might have to revisit this one Oblio.

i guess for it to be a REDESIGN tho, it had to encorporate some element of the film -- ie either their characters, the fact that theyr cowboys, their relationship... something... or it wouldnt be a redesign. Imo redesigns always lead to trouble >.< just give us something cool next round MR FANTANATASTIC!

At last I finished an entry! This was great fun, hope its not too sketchy.
One thing I wanted to note about the idea is that The Ugly's scar is from that accidently someone threw a firecracker in his face when he was younger. So he's really just frustrated and has an ugly self image.
Also I think The Bad is some kind of albino with a Sith complex :)
Who will find the treasure first?
PS- like I said, those are real guns, these three ain't playin' around.

Very nice work, rWDrk. Especially the bad kid's head (great hair rendering).
Just 2 little things:
The way you've overlapped part of the Good's belt and jacket with the border is detracting from the piece. I'm assuming you want people to see the 'COW', but it doesn't look consistent with the other characters, which go behind the base of the frame.

Also, I'm guessing you forgot to render the slingshot - looks flat.

BUt i think youre right about that it is destracting a lot.
