I just found this site, which appears will be my new artist's home, being much more in tune with my ultiate interests.

Im working lately to become more prolific, and getting used to spending as much spare time working on art as I can afford. I'll start by posting an illustration I just completed this week, as well as a few sketches for my next work.

Heres the Final: I used the only pencils I had, which were simply too hard. Future work will be utilizing softer pencils. Piece is roughly 20" in height, and mmaybe 14" in width, multipart, seamed scan.

Anyway, welcome to my thread. Hopefully it marks the start to a fruitfull journey of improvement.

Nice looking, bro! Just try to vary your hatching - too much in the same direction can make it look like fur or hair. You can also try tilting the pencil (works best with woodless pencils) to get a larger area of effect as well as some texture (depending on paper).

I also think this would look absolutely amazing if you took it into photoshop and colour it - that would absolutely do it for this pic, in my opinion at least.

Thanks for the advice. As always, Ill take any suggestion into account. Right now im in the middle of finishing a photoshop illustration, so perhaps after that.

Here is something I did on some paper I messed up, just to practice techniques at drawing nature, which Ive done very little of. Ill eventually get to where I find some nice reference, but this was just trying different techniques out.

Originally I wanted to do a sort of "hunched over" treebeard, but it was making the pose more difficult especially concerning the legs. I didnt want treebeard to look like he was moving much.
