Heh.....damn you man, I love these. Especially the bottom one. Something about your work seems to have a very classic feel to it, I can't pin point it, but I enjoy it. Motivating.

seg84:

How did he get good? A few things seem very obvious to me:

1) He doesn't practice. ever.
2) He has never studied anatomy or any other subject
3) He always quits if a drawing becomes difficult, because that's the best way to learn.
4) He consistently went out drinking, gambling, and watching tv instead of doing his homework.

Am I right? Or am I right?

Heh. sorry. :) I'd actually love to hear your response as well.

Anyway, great drawings again, KChen.

Actually, I was thinking about it being a body snatcher. They are weak when exposed and usually hangs and likes crawls on dark ceilings (very bat & spider like). They sneak up on their prey from the top and jumps on their back for the kill. They chew off the head of their victums and insert their spine alone their victum's back to suck the juice out of their spine. During this time they have the control of their prey's body. They would use it to immobilize their prey and to protaect them self just incase they have companions with them that might attack. Usually they don't like to stay on a body for too long. They have extremely powerful gribs and attack fast and fierciously. Once they grab on to you they never let go... :firedevil

I am still thinking about where they can live so they can have enough supplie of food :)

Whats up with Nick and eating ears?

I really like the big fat thing with the axe. Looks to me like it'd be some kind of guard or something.. Slow moving but if it hit you, you'd be lopped right in half.

Seg84,
I like to do some word play when I design. I think of what I want my creature to feel "like". Do I want him to aggressive and moves like a lizzard? Then I have some character to start drawing about, not just a typical cyclops. I't also fun to draw a personallity that you usually don't associate with that type of character. It makes it more challenging and have surpprising results.
As for getting better. The thing is to take your time and learn the Foundations and practice consistantly. Learn notes from animation about character & gesture. Study human and animal anatomy(understand function). Learn perspective and how to build complex objects with simple forms. Study design & composition to learn how to communicate mood with shape, tone, line, texture, edge, space, color. Study your favoriate artist and see how they manage to pull all these madness together into a seemless art!!
From what I noticed is that as you get better in your foundations everything else you draw gets better. It really force you to think through about you design and execution.

this should be moved to the sketchbooksforum but I am digging that cyclops, I've always enjoyed the theme of eyeball decoration on Cyclopi for some reason, might be even more effective when it is a little more subtle but that might be personal preference.

Edit: Hadn't seen the date , sorry

Talk about necromancy!
For those of you wondering what this was doing in Finally Finished, back in 2002(!!!!!) the forums hadn't assumed their present form.
