hey there,

Ok, so this is my second post and it's my first try at painting a character with photoshop. I've always been a comicbook artist, so I'm used to doing my drawings in black and white. I'm trying to step away from that and give a try to tones and colours.

This is a steampunk scientist I'm working on. I'm now drawing a full body version of him, to show off his costume and physic and the idea is to have this head shot and the fullbody on the same page and try to make it look like a professional concept design character sheet.

what do you guys think. Please let me know.

hi bendal.
i quite like it. the hair looks great. i think something is not right with the googles. it looks to loose on the left side and somehow the front is to straight.

Hi Bendal, I think your character is looking good but in my opiion some things could be improved.
First I don't like the way the character is cut and put over the background. I think it makes the character look flat. I don't like the background very much too, I think it is too "real" and doesn't match very well the cartoon style of the character (2 completelly different styles...).
Also is face is viewed almost in a frontal view, but you are seing much more of the gogles in his right than in his left. Also is right maxilar seems to big.
Just some ideas.
Cheers

hey guys, thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. I was struggling a bit with the goggles, so I know I have to improve that. I was really nervous, cause it was my first attempt at PS painting so I guess I was more worried about the colours and stuff and less about the structure. And now that Voraz mentioned those points, I can see a lot of stuff from the chracter structure that can be fixed.

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it. Any thoughts about the colouring or painting itself?

Hi, I am glad it could be of some help. I actually think it is a very well done drawing, and I like the colouring of the character and I have no ideas on how to improve, sorry. I am lousy at PS painting...
Cheers
