great addition! good sense of motion - reminds me of something that fellow post-er chuck, mate. would do.

the last one is by far my favourite. Really good dynamic and designs. Love the way you've managed the motion effect, but for some reason i kinda miss the brushy style of the cape from your CGtalk version (of course, not that rough but...). Almost looks like a directional blur in photoshop now, although i'm pretty sure it ain't :)
Anyway. cool stuff Mr Chiu!

April 11th, 2006, 03:21 PM
Ah so that's you? I saw this last one on Cgtalk, very nice. I do have to say however I liked the composition of the sketch a little more, just felt so fluid as if my head swung with the path of the blade, you know what I mean?

theres is a nice blend in your work between exageration and cartoon, and then hinted realism in the way you paint and light it :)

Everytime I pass by this page and take a long good look at that first image, I can't help but think, "That's not creamed spinach in his mouth."

Some poor family is missing a pet.

Looking forward to seeing what other creatures are waiting to thrill us.

April 18th, 2006, 05:31 PM
Really sensational stuff. Lots of humor and pleasant colors, but also impressive details. The fur is amazing, did you use the "twisting the pen "method in Painter to follow the contour of the body?

These creatures have my favorite detail in them "personality" :) keep it up please.

here's a new one. It's the rarest kangaroo in the world and lives in deep dark caves all it's life. Barely ever seen by man, I was lucky enough to see one on a recent trip and did a painting of her and her baby standing outside her cave.

Meet the Kanga-mole-bunny.

Digi have you ever considered making some models of these creatures. Any one of them would be really great little sculptures. For example, the little furry green flying chubby lizard. You could get some sculpy and really get in all those nice little wrinkles and skin effects and even get some acetate to make little wings with. Then add fur and whatnot. Itd be a nice piece.

I've had the Baterpillar Ferret as my bg for awhile now so I figured I'd reply to this thread:)

These creatures are really a treat and a great break from the all serious stuff around here. They are all well done and I love the sofness to your paintings!

The new batch of cartoony (more so even than the others:) are slick and the textures on them are simply great.

Gotta love sideburns on a fish!

Youīve developed a very nice style with your creatures.

Some of them look cute, but still have this "I donīt wanna touch this"-feeling. Like the kangaroo for example.

These creatures are fantastic, reminds me of the freaky stuff from the Oddworld series of games. Your drawings are both extremely well rendered and humorous, kudos to you.
