Does altering include things like cartilage, and bone structure as well? or is this a purely surface alteration device?

Thx!

It think it's up to one self to decide how- and to what extent it works...

Am I the only one with plans to enter this competition? It could be my only chance to pull out a victory, so I'm not complaining...

Gather ye round, the Face Changer 3000.

In the not too distant future, the development of micro-technology will allow humans to launch tiny robots into their flesh that will perform complex surgery, including severe face alteration.

However, the launching of said tiny robots is not easy, as they have to be pummeled into your skin. The Face Changer 3000 was designed as the perfect launch mechanism, although it does feel like you are getting punched in every skin cell on your face.

The product is mainly sold to hairdressers and beauty shops where they line the walls. The client leans into the wall cavity and looks straight ahead. Then the liscensed beautician pulls the 3000 straigh back along it's guide rails and.... releases! To date, there is an 86% survival rate.

http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g123/followfunction/facechangerfinal2.jpg

The 3000 is shown in pulled-position, ready to be released.

I am a big fan of the 5th Element, but I still didn't understand the comment. I'm not sure what the reference was.

Ok, first part of my entry, I should get the rest done soon, hopefully before this gets closed.
http://users.bigpond.net.au/laing/dsg/idw-cosmetic.jpg
Second part, had way too much fun with this:
http://users.bigpond.net.au/laing/dsg/idw-cosmetic-ad.gif
Concept: Originally developed for the big screen, initially to provide a simpler method of 'aging' an actor, the technology quickly started to allow prominent stars to take on parts that they wouldn't normally be suited for, at least visually. As the technology progressed it became cost effective to produce a model for the consumer market, maintaining it's link to acting with the comedy/tragedy 'smile'. Unfortunately internet users have been bombarded by their overly blunt advertising. Celebrity sightings have increased exponentially since it's introduction.

In The 5th Element there was a product that applied makeup to Leeloo's face instantly, come on people. I'm really liking artiphats entry so far, that horrifying thing really looks like it could change a face...or just rip it to shreds.

LOL, that's classic, best compliment I think I could get, thanks a lot!

Final if we ever get to voting. Actually at this point I just want to see a new topic to do, not that I have much time though.

Artiphats, I think you have plenty of time to keep working on your new image. These ID challenge of the weeks seem more like challenge of the 12 days. I think I might actually like your orginal render better. Where did that poor sucker's body go? Maybe its because you are not finished polishing it.
Looking forward to see how it turns out!

FollowFunction, yeah if I end up having more time I definitely have work to do - which I will do anyway just for the sake of finishing the piece, even if they end the topic before I finish.

You know it is funny, when I looked back at the original design I thought I liked it better too, but I chocked it up to the fact that I had thrown some color and value onto it. Hopefully when I do the same to the newer one, it'll look a lot better. I think the thing about the first one is that it just looks so scary, there is no one in the chair but you just KNOW that thing has caused some pain in performing it's task. The second image doesnt really convey that, it's more you see the guy getting all pulled and pocked. We'll see how it turns out, maybe I'll polish up both of them and see what happens.

Oh and the hint of his body will be there by the time it's done, just didnt bother to draw it when I was penciling the rest of it all. Photoshop rocks!

Is there going to be a new topic soon?

Seriously. I know this forum doesn't get as much attention as COW, but maybe thats because people don't want to work on a piece that may never be voted on. It seemed like IDoW was starting to be consistent with the voting every week or so and then a new topic. What a bummer.

By the way, Flip, I really dug your concept and wanted to vote for it. I liked the clean lines and the placement of the logo at the eyeline.

Thanks guys.

I would be torn when it comes to voting. My favourite illustration is artiphats' - it's good you got a chance to colour the second image. But then the concept of followfunction's appeals to my morbid sense of humour.

Anyway, even if we don't get to vote, anyone up for a NEW TOPIC?

How's ** STEAM PUNK DEEP SEA EXPLORATION** ? (topic by Sinix, from topic suggestion thread)

I'll be up for just about anything at this point, of course I have no extra time as it is, but somehow I sneak more drawing in when no one is looking! Deep Sea Thing-a-ma-jig let's have at it!!!!

If IDofW is gonna fall to the waste, (and I hope it doesnt), maybe we should just start a new thread in the Challenge area. Or else I say new moderator? I don't know Davi at all, and I am sure he is a great guy who is just swamped with work or whatever. But some consistancy would be nice. C'mon Davi, help us out bro!

I think there has been a discussion in the past about keeping weeklies open if there arent enough entries... no idea if that has anything to do with the long time this has been up.
It feels bad to submit anything 2 or 3 weeks late imo :/.

Although I haven't participated in IDW yet I feel it would be a great loss if it disappeared. Conceptart.org is currently swamped with mostly organic themes/paintings/topics and I think IDW adds a much needed variety.

I discovered it not long ago and I did work on this subject just for practice cause the dead line was already over

IDW adds a much needed variety.

I couldn't agree more - and I think these last couple of topics did get good response, heaps of great submissions. Don't see why this has stagnated - is it as psyloco suggests that it's because of lack of entries? If that's the case I'll be more than willing to enter with something to get the numbers up. Otherwise, let's gogogo! :yayca:

Maybe it's that time of year when people are extra busy and don't got the time for IDW. Atleast that's what kept me from going at it.
Just grasping for straws here.
